Peters Epistles Classic Warn Radio Series

We now begin Peter’s Epistles which were written during Nero’s later years of persecution of believers after AD 67 or 68, 2 Peter around 69 before the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus. Peter begins his words of Admonition and Encourage after the long persecution during Nero and just before the Roman General Titus destruction of Jerusalem. Peter is older now and many of his peers are gone to be with the Lord. The War against the church in the empire has blazed a trail of blood, martyrdom, and faith. There can be no doubt here that the Aged Apostle was beloved writing to those around the empire of Rome wanted to give words that would help them in these times.

The whole world ruled by Rome and the world seemed at times to hate the faith of Christ. Just as today, there are those who won’t stop until they murder, rape, and pillage everyone who follows Christ Jesus. But in this epistle the Apostle grounds his readers and reveals the glory and guts of the Faith of Christ. The reward is sure and certain. It will not fade nor tarnish. It awaits all believers in the Faith and Testimony of Jesus Christ.

Yet much of what they face, the situations they find themselves in, and their reactions can mirror similar troubles today. No matter how modern man wants to put it, God is in charge. While some believe they can sit back and just let God take care of it; this in itself is misguided. God calls men to repent, but the job of men and women is to do something. That is seek the Lord, coming to him to repent. In our daily lives as in Judah’s it comes down to whom or what do you trust in? In our modern society, it comes down to money, technology, modernism, and other ideas to do it ourselves. But we aim to work with the Lord, seeking Him acknowledging Him in our all ways.
