Ah...I wrestled with the Lord so much with this question.

I’m grateful the Lord didn’t let it all happen without warning me, I realized the way I found out was because it was just a natural consequence of his own actions and I also can now see how God was trying to tell me many times, but because I was being lied to, I didn’t believe myself anymore and began to ignore promptings.

The sad thing is you start to question all of your promptings and then it’s so much harder to know and recognize the voice of the Lord so you’ll need to work on ....forgiveness for yourself, because it takes work to regain your own trust back. I love what Maya Angelou said about this “Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn't know before you learned it.” 

As I have taken time to connect with Christ, He has helped me regain that confidence and ability to follow His promptings with even with more conviction and courage than before

I was expecting other people to help me feel better, which is a lot to put on a well meaning friend or family member. The healing that I was searching for could only come from Christ.

Elder Kevin W Pearson says “...trials and challenges come our way, we are often told to simply “hang in there.” Let me be clear: to “hang in there” is not a principle of the gospel. Enduring to the end means constantly coming unto Christ and being perfected in Him.”

What's your first step in coming unto Him?

After Discovery Day (or Disclosure Day) I felt like my mind, body and spirit had been annihilated by discovering my husband’s continued betrayal but somehow I was still breathing. When we have been betrayed by a loved one and it rocks you to the core, we have to get back to loving ourselves and regain confidence in our abilities and connections.

So, I’ve basically likened each of the things in a regular hospital ICU to my Emotional & Spiritual ICU, this is ALL considered self care!

Thoughts & stories can and do originate from 3 places! From within me, from God & of course the other guy, satan. 

The stories we believe about ourselves can really impact the way we live our social, emotional and spiritual lives. Sis. Brené Brown says “the most dangerous stories we make up are the narratives that diminish our inherent worthiness. We must reclaim the truth about our lovability, divinity, and creativity.”

The Ancient One (from the movie Dr Strange) said something that resonated with me she said, “WE NEVER LOSE OUR DEMONS, WE ONLY LEARN TO LIVE ABOVE THEM.” 

No matter how little or how much time I spend connecting with Christ in whatever way I have found that works best for me, the adversary is always right there telling me that it is not enough and that it doesn’t count for some crazy reason he just made up. He drives me nuts, how he can flip flop from one minute distracting me from connecting with Christ to the next, telling me my connection wasn’t good enough. That’s how you know it’s not from God but that it’s one of satan’s tactics.

Just like those little bits of calories add up and show up on your hips, nibbling on spiritual brownies throughout our day can make a difference in our lives too!

I promise you, it’s more than ok to add this to your morning routine even if you’re a grown woman like myself.

After D day it was so hard not to talk back, get sassy or say things that were mean or that I didn’t really mean to my husband and even my kids and they know I failed to control myself sometimes, I was angry ALL THE TIME. I didn’t like it and I didn’t know what to do with all of it. All of that anger that is.

Then I read Genesis 3:15 and that changed everything!

I am grateful to have discovered this scripture weapon of “positive hatred” to help validate my need to be angry but also to motivate me to stay in this fight against evil and to remember the target 🎯 our real enemy, satan.

I want to take this episode to be a little bit vulnerable and we know from Sis Brene Brown that "vulnerability is not weakness it’s our greatest measure of courage” and she also says that “owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” So here’s to being courageous and brave!
