Typically, the days following a catastrophe tend to be filled with introspection and spiritual contemplation. Like the season of Lent, which we are currently in, there is often a sense of reflection, penitence, and repentance.

Noah was 600 years old when the flood came and he entered the ark, and he lived to be 950 years. In other words, he lived the last third of his life in the post-flood, new world, which he and his family had the opportunity to influence. Noah and his sons did an amazing thing, building that ark for 120 years and preaching repentance toward God. Yet, for all the good they did, they could not escape the fallen, sinful nature of man, even in a brand-new world. But before we get too judgmental, remember this:

[1Corinthians 10:12-13] 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

How does God feel about those who hurt children? What about causing them to walk in sin or away from Him? He is not too keen on the idea. Jesus says those who cause children to stumble in sin would be better off dead. Wow! Consider the declaration of the Psalmist, "A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation." (Psalm 68:5) James, the half-brother of Jesus, says, "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." (James 1:27) How we treat the children is of utmost importance to God. Yet, in our modern tech-centered world, we find the most vulnerable of us at the mercy of the ungodly influence of the "misinformation" age. The lies of this world have not changed. Satan asked Eve, "Has God really said..." (Genesis 3:1b). Thousand or influencers with billions of hours of material are supplying voices to the god of this world, the father of lies (See John 8:44-46). Paul writes to the Church in Corinth, "But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. (2 Co 4:3–4; also see 1 John 5:19). TheThe lies of this world are blinding our children with riches, popularity, deconstructionism, and the false hope of worldly relationships, and they are stumbling in the dark. It is time for the church to turn on the lights and call them home.

Genesis 8-9 show us an incredible picture through the life of Noah and what he went through. Judgment is poured out, Salvation is offered, but we will see that Noah wasn’t on the ark for just 40 days and nights. There was a lot of waiting to be delivered into the new life God had planned for Noah and his family. Noah was able to persevere in his deliverance due to the assurance he had in God’s promise to him. There is so much application that the modern Christian can glean from these beautiful old testament passages.

The reality that death comes to everyone should move us all to action. We should be taking care of our health, making time for those we love, making plans for the future, and making sure we are telling everyone about the hope found only in the good news of Jesus. The proclamation of the Gospel of hope in what He did for us on the Cross of Calvary allows us and all humanity to enter into eternal life by faith. Tell the world of the assurance and promise God has made to us. A guarantee He has full intention and fidelity to keep on our behalf. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6). Jesus is the only way! Does that seem too narrow to you? Do you think there are other ways to get to heaven? Well, consider this for a moment; be not concerned with or spend your energies or precious time finding different ways into heaven; come to Jesus and know the hope of eternal life for yourself today and rest.

Within the Christian faith, there is, unfortunately, a significant amount of confusion regarding what happens after death. Yet, curious minds want to know, so we keep trying to figure it out. Hey, it is a reasonable question, right? I think so. We are all doing to die after all! However, not acknowledging ambiguity found on the subject in scriptures only makes for more confusion. Books and movies have not helped matters much either. They have helped further a culture theology rather than a biblical one. There is no simple answer to this question, and the people who know we can not ask because they are dead. Some hold that after death, everyone "sleeps" until the final judgment, after which everyone will be sent to heaven or hell. Others believe that at the moment of death, people are instantly judged and sent to their eternal destinations. Still, others claim that when people die, their souls/spirits are sent to "temporary" heaven or hell to await the final resurrection, the final judgment, and then the finality of their eternal destination. (Luke 16:19-31) So, what exactly does the Bible say happens after death? Let's look at the Bible and see what we can see, not so clearly.

1. I'm confused as to which menorah is the correct "official" menorah. I see the Jews have a 9-candle menorah. I thought that God specifically instructed Moses on the construction of the menorah. It was to have 3 lamps on each side of the center, a total of 7 lights. By what authority did the Jews change the menorah to 9 lights, simply because the oil miraculously burned 8 days? Also, is it correct to assume that when Jesus celebrated Hanukkah, the menorah would have been the newer 9 light version?

2. Isn't it true that all Jews/Israelites that are devout in their Jewish faith, are condemned to eternal suffering in Hell if they haven't accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior?

3. Since Adam named all the animals, did he name plants trees, and flowers?

4. How does one minister to and/or give advice to someone who has been sexually abused by a family member?

5. When did dinosaurs exist? Before Adam?

6. Why do we have to wait till chapter 3 to see Adam name Eve?

Perhaps you’ve heard someone say, “If I was God, I’d…” change this, that, or the other. Of course, it’s just my humble opinion, but that may be the most ignorant way to start a sentence I’ve ever heard. As peculiar as it sounds, sometimes, God’s way is to not get His own way. In fact, God Himself declared in Isaiah 55, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts,” (55:8-9).
As we move into Genesis chapter 6, nearly 1,700 years of human history have passed. God’s desire was for His image-bearers to experience abundant life, but man chose death. In order for man to enjoy life, he would have to die. In this chapter, God saves all of humanity by inviting one man and his immediate family to choose life... by spending over a year in a floating coffin. And all of this points us to Jesus, of course.
