These are two of my top songwriters in the Philippines. The Kings of underground reggae, ska and punk rock music in Southeast Asia. Bobby Balingit wrote one of Filipino rocks anthems, “At Nakalimutan And Diyos” (…and has forgotten God) and CBI is one of the most popular reggae/ska bands in the country. Paul also fronts another band called Borrachos. Gary Ballen is a good friend that I’ve met more than ten years ago. He was the road/production manager of N.W.A. back in the late 80’s. He also went on tour with Air Supply on their first U.S. tour. He also managed a hair metal band in the mid-80’s called Hurricane. We discuss his journey from Ohio to California and his myriad of rock n roll stories, which includes a month-long close friendship with Pink Floyd guitarist, David Gilmour when the guitar icon was living in Los Angeles to record A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Bob Magoo and The Gaucho aka Big Jim were part of the DJ crew of Manila radio station DZRJ. The one and only rock station in the Philippines during the Martial Law era. Back when radio DJs had actual personalities and specific music tastes that you waited to listen to. We discuss the wild and fun times they had during their stints at the station, how they stayed up to date with American rock music during the 70's and how Bob Magoo was actually on-air when Martial Law was declared in the Philippines in 1972. These guys are a huge influence on my present attempts at being a radio DJ. ENJOY!

Jun Lopito is hailed as one of the best guitarists in the Philippines. The son of a popular Filipino comedian, he started as a folk singer in the mid-70’s. He eventually joined Pepe Smith’s solo band, The Airwaves as well as being the original lead guitarist of the Queen of Filipino ‘Pinoy’ Rock, Sampaguita. He was also the lead guitarist of Coco Jam in the 1990's. We discuss his origins, his Buddhist beliefs, his guitars and his third and brand new album called Jun Lopito & The Bodhisattvas: BODHI3NMRK.
