We Have Thoughts!

We are time traveling once again back to early 2016. For the next 8 weeks we are going to be talking about the best picture nominees the year #OscarsSoWhite started trending.

First up is the better of Adam McKay's two Oscar nominated films. Did we understand everything they said? No, but we enjoyed the breaking of the fourth wall to try and explain mortgage bonds.

Tell us what you thought of The Big Short over on Twitter and Instagram. You can find us @wehavethoughts3 where we are eagerly waiting for someone to talk to us...Bueller? Bueller?

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO...LA LA LAND...just kidding..MOONLIGHT! We finally get to talk about the magic that is Moonlight. Barry Jenkins gifted us with this perfect movie. Listen to us go on and on about how much we love it, how excited we were when it won and how it will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

We're done talking about the 2017 Oscars, and can't wait to talk about all the movies nominated for Best Picture in 2016!

Manchester by the Sea may not be everyone's cup of tea (I will never tell if the rhyme was intentional or not) but after this viewing we have a better understanding of its nominations. Also, we are not fans of Casey Affleck, and ya know, Time's Up, and his performance here was nuanced and quiet and fitting for this story HOWEVER BEST ACTOR SHOULD HAVE GONE TO DENZEL WASHINGTON!

Did you like Manchester by the Sea? Were the 12 minutes Michelle Williams had worthy of a nomination? Tell us what you think over on Twitter and Instagram @wehavethoughts3

Do you have your tissues ready? Have you cleared your schedule so that you can sit in your feelings all day. It's officially Cancer season, and we kicked it off by being the most emotional while talking about Best Picture nominee Lion.

Did you survive this movie with minimal emotional leakage? Tell us how! Where did you get your super powers, because we all became a puddle of tears.

It was one of the biggest movies of that Oscar year and we all know Hollywood loves itself, so listen to what we thought of Damien Chazelle's La La Land. It has everything we love, music, dance, Ryan Gosling, but it still wasn't a home run. Listen as we break down our thoughts on the music and lyrics, the character choices of Mia, and the color choices!

Did La La Land give you the old Hollywood feel it was going for? Let us know over on Twitter and Instagram @wehavethoughts3

We'd love to hear from you!

Look at us posting regularly! We're back again talking about the 2017 Oscar nominated Best Pictures. Hell or High Water was the only movie we didn't get to see that year so we had fun talking about this one. Our biggest take away? Chris Pine's eyes.

Tell us what you think about Hell or High Water! Find us @wehavethoughts3 on both Twitter and Instagram! We'd love to hear from you!!

We're half way through the 2017 Best Picture Nominees! This week we discuss Hidden Figures. It was a ground breaking movie about ground breaking women and we love being able to amplify the voices and the stories of POCs.

Let us know what you thought of this feel good movie over on our Twitter and Instagram @wehavethoughts3

We're back again and continuing on our Oscar Rewind Series with Hacksaw Ridge. Shout out to Lulu on Letterboxd that summed up our feelings perfectly, "War is bad and so is this movie."  While the story of Desmond Doss is a miraculous one, this movie glossed over the terrible events at Okinawa, and the troubles Doss faced after his services.

Listen to us hate on Mel Gibson, wonder at what the appeal of Teresa Palmer is, and what happened to Sam Worthington's promising career.

Are you stressed about the apocalypse? Have you forgotten what real human interaction is like? Fear not, we are here to save you!

Listen to us talk about what we've been watching during quarantine! Take our advice and the scary dreams will go away. Watch these movies and TV shows about times without face masks, and a million celebrity lives on Instagram a day. It's all going to be okay.

Let's close our eyes, and think back to 2017. It was the year of Black Excellence at the Oscars. Viola Davis won her first Oscar, earning her the Triple Crown; An Emmy (First African American Actress to win Lead Actress in a Drama), A Tony (Two actually, because she's a BOSS), and now an Oscar. This brilliant adaptation of August Wilson's iconic play gave us performances we won't soon forget. The fight scene between Denzel Washington and Viola Davis puts this years fight in marriage story to shame.

How did you feel about Fences? Tell us on Twitter and Instagram @wehavethoughts3 . We're waiting for you!
