In this episode, we dive into background of both Allison and Derek to learn a little more about what motivated them to start Polygon Market. Interestingly enough, each had a very different outlook on work, career, money, and life in general, all the way up to their wedding day. That is when it all changed, and Derek ended up walking away from a career to join his wife who he described as much “happier in her work” than he was, despite his success. We dive into what it was like for Allison, the self-proclaimed “control freak,” to relinquish her oversight on certain elements of the company and how Derek adapted from his career life to entrepreneurship. There are many interesting nuggets of information ranging from dealing with less than supportive family and friends, the panic of low workload, the stress of cashflow management, and so much more. Polygon Market has made a huge splash as a marketing consultant firm in its few short years of existence from helping small, local companies to some publicly trading names. This success from their niche branding has helped them gain quite a reputation and a social media following…even on TikTok!

Ray Young is an entrepreneur and family man who launched his boutique public relations firm during a time of absolute uncertainty. Like many entrepreneurs, he saw a niche that he felt was underserved, ripe for an innovative breakthrough. In this episode we dive more into WHO Ray is rather than what he does. Laura Meier sat down with the Wealth Preservation Podcast and shared her story of becoming a published author, entrepreneur, powerhouse estate planning attorney, and marketing monster -- all while running the company with her supportive husband and their four kids. Among the many talents of Laura, marketing has got to be close to the top. Both her and her husband Josh do a phenomenal job as estate planners and attorneys, but Laura knows that it takes more then a good product or service to be successful. It takes about 7 to 12 touches before a prospect converts into a client!

The goal is typically to grow enough to where you can outsource this portion of your business, but Laura also shares the importance of keeping your pulse on your marketing to ensure you don’t lose authenticity. You can outsource a lot of the marketing tasks but you can’t outsource your personality and unique touch.
