Holly-Day Gift Guide Designer Spotlight: Jaimie Hilfiger for Igal Dahan is joining us this week...how lucky are we?!? It's a name you think you may be familiar with, but our guest - Jaimie Hilfiger - is 100% her own woman: a model and actress, a beauty mogul, a mother, a businesswoman, AND, oh by the way, the niece of fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger.
But that is not her story. A self-made entrepreneur, Jaimie has flawlessly parlayed her early success in acting and modeling into a burgeoning beauty empire. Even at an early age, Jaimie possessed an innate understanding of the inner power that comes from looking and feeling your best.
As she became a woman, this intuition ignited a calling to help others cultivate confidence through an intentional approach to self-care. In each of her endeavors, Jaimie employs beauty, skincare, and fashion to empower the mind, body, and soul.
This week, your favorite personal stylist Holly Katz interviews Jaimie to learn about her style sense, her journey as an actress and model, becoming a mother and juggling all the changes motherhood can bring.
But more importantly, we get to learn about ID X-Change "Cuffs of Love," a line of bracelets designed by her esteemed jewelry designer-husband Igal Dahan which she now represents.
Every piece in the Cuffs of Love accessories collection has a connection with LOVE. The pieces were for those who embrace and want to express the connection of love they cherish with friends, family, and in relationships. These innovative interlocking cuffs have hit a cord with consumers and celebrities alike.
NOTE:

Riddle us this: What do a former meteorologist, the sport of tennis, the fashion industry, and the recycling of plastic bottles have in common?
A superstar entrepreneur named Jackie Meretsky, who created Jgame, a new tennis and activewear line focused on style and sustainability! #AMAZEBALLS
"Tennis' popularity (and now Pickleball) - and the accompanying apparel - has exploded globally in recent years. The activewear is now a statement of style and must now co-exist with functionality. But, I wanted to take things a little further… if sportswear can represent your style, can't it also represent your values? I think so!
This is why I decided to create JGame, which merges effortlessly chic and classic styles with beautiful, recycled fabrics that are eco-friendly, locally sourced, and ethically made right here in NYC."
– Jackie Meretsky, founder of JGame.
This week, your favorite personal stylist Holly Katz introduces us to JGame, a female-founded, eco-conscious and ethically made NYC-based brand.
LISTEN HERE NOW!
If you love tennis, care about reducing your carbon footprint and want to look effortlessly chic on and off the court, then JGame is what you are looking for.
Each stylish piece, made with high-quality recycled fabrics, is designed with both functionality and comfort in mind.
Our guest is a full-time mother, a former meteorologist and now the female founder of a new company. How does this happen? With a passion for tennis, a lot of research and a commitment to a brand profile that is driven by not contributing to something that will hurt our environment, while at the same time, offering style and function.
That does not sound easy, and it's not. But Jackie has the energy and drive to manage her family, learn an entirely new business category AND create and run a unique and interesting niche in the crowded world of sportswear.
What is the secret sauce? She loves tennis. So, she knows what women want to wear (and men and children) when participating in an active and demanding sport. You need comfort, fit, performance, style – and to offer something more than the Big Boys in the sports apparel arena.
Jackie's difference? Environmentally conscious materials that include chips of recycled plastic bottles, which helps to decreases the greenhouse gas emissions that are created by processing virgin polyesters.
She also demands local manufacturing and produces her fashion line just a short drive from Manhattan in New York.
Sustainability is the Difference – The 3 Pilars of JGame:
Their garments are made from fabrics that are 75-100% recycled polyester, which is made by using PET from clear plastic bottles. The plastic bottles are broken down into small chips, and those chips then go through a process that turns them into yarn. #oooooaaahhhh
2. Local Manufacturing
JGame is proud to have a manufacturing partner just a short drive from their headquarters in Manhattan. Manufacturing locally can make a tremendous impact - shorter distances mean less CO2 emissions. When they need to make a new sample or check on the sewing of a garment, they aren't adding significant greenhouse gas emissions caused by cargo ships and sea freight traffic.
3. Sustainable Packaging
They are targeting packaging in several ways: first by partnering with a sustainable packaging company that delivers high quality packaging that is either compostable, reusable, or recyclable. If you are purchasing JGame at a pop-up, your packaging will be as simple as a recycled paper bag accompanied by recycled tissue paper. If you're buying online, you'll receive your goods in a minimalist, recycled mailer.
"Like much of the fashion industry, sportswear often turns toward fast fashion with little accountability vis-á-vis environmental protection, working conditions and carbon emissions."
But JGame is not all about function. It's about form, too! And by that, we mean skirts, tops, dresses, shorts and visors made in fun and flirty colors, with a fabulous fit and a nice side of sassy. Yasssss!
We are absolutely obsessed with Jackie's designs, and you will be, too! Please be sure to check out Holly's exclusive Pinterest board featuring all her favorite JGame styles!
BONUS GIFT FOR THOSE WHO STAYED 'TIL THE END:
If you go to the JGame website and use the discount code "HOLLY" – you will get 20% off your purchase! This is only for our special listeners and fashion friends. You're Welcooommee!!
ALSO: Don't forget, JGame is part of our HOLLY-DAY Gift Guide and Giveaway! Jackie has given us one of her fabulous tennis tank tops as a gift, and you can win over $900 in gifts if you enter our giveaway BEFORE DEC 23rd!

Kim White Handbags & Belts was established in 2003 in Los Angeles, California. What began as a one-of-a-kind, handmade textile bag business with Kim sewing each bag herself has bloomed into a boutique business specializing in both leather belts and bags.
Kim's belts and bags are all made in the USA with the finest craftsmanship, made by real people, one by one. This specialty line of leather goods is made to last, with attention paid to the finest quality craftsmanship. The buckles Kim uses on her belt line are specially cast uniquely for Kim White.
Craftsmanship is key, only gorgeous high-quality leathers are used, and styles are designed to withstand temporal trends.
All proudly designed and hand made in the U.S.A. Kim White lives and works in Highland Park, California.
We could literally write every word Kim White shared with us in these show notes – because she is THAT awesome.
"You need a niche to get rich!"
To summarize the vibe she brings to the show this week, we'll just share this. This is how it all started when Kim had no money:
"Okay, so what happened was, I worked for a big fashion designer in Los Angeles for a really long time. And they were crazy. They went out of business eventually. And I found myself out of a job. I found myself so broke, I hadn't even been paid for the past three paychecks, So, no rent money, no hotel, I was screwed. And I was in an apartment at the time. And I'm just like, "What am I going to do?"
Well, she asked around LA for fabric sources because she had a fabric sewing machine. And someone told her about a company that supplied fabrics for American cars from the 70s and 80s. She literally couldn't believe it. This is when she said, "This is my niche to get rich!" She started a fabric vintage car handbag line, and she killed it.
"I killed it. In my first month in business. I was like on E TV, I was in French Vogue, I was on all the fashion magazines back then. And this was in the early 2000s. So that's when it really mattered to have actual press. So that's "a must" for beginning stories!"
Today, Kim has extended her line to include unique belts and other accessories. In this episode she shares her journey as a designer, as woman entrepreneur, and the rollercoaster ride of running your own fashion brand.
It ain't easy folks, but with the attitude and passion of someone like Kim, it can be done.
This is one wild ride of an episode, so hold on to your seat, and meet KIM WHITE!

What is happening, Fashion Besties? How fabulous have you had to look this week? As for Holly, she was HOME. ALL. WEEK. Don't be concerned. It happens.
So, with a little downtime, we started sifting through her DMs and emails and decided to share just a few of the questions we get from listeners and clients.
Y'all have gotten so fashionably savvy and smart! Your questions remind us that we have many areas yet to discuss, and we are so proud of the listeners that check with us before they commit a fashion crime! #TRUTH
We love that you are reaching out and asking, because this is how you learn, and this is how your style evolves. #SoProud
First, some starters:
What to wear when you are home all day or working from home:
What to do when you HATE shopping:
Sidebar rant: Some people like to shop. They evolve their style with their age. They're naturally excelling in life. Fashion and style are fun for them. They enjoy getting dressed. Just because you are a woman does not mean you automatically know from birth how to shop, or even like to shop or enjoy getting dressed. THAT'S OKAY!
Holly is here today to share real answers to real questions submitted by 2 of our fashion insider besties. Only the first question is in the show notes here. Make sure you listen to the full episode to hear all of the questions and truth bomb answers!!!
Question #1:
Dear Holly,
I usually wear basics and neutral colors. But recently I've been in the mood to try something more stylish. How do I do this without embarrassing myself?
Answer #1:
This question, to be honest, really hurts my heart. This is somebody who obviously has been in their fashion comfort zone most of their lives. But as we've discussed before, when you shop for color, or for price, this is called shopping backward. Do not do this. You want to shop forward, or shop with intention, which means you shop for FIT FIRST. Not color, not price, not sales, not, 'I'll find a place to wear this," shopping.
Shopping for color and thinking that this is a great way to get yourself out of your comfort zone is not a good idea. Because you don't shop for color, you shop for fit.
The best advice we can give is to go into a store, look at the displays and the mannequins. Look at department store websites to see what's trending, best sellers, and the newest styles. Ask for help and try things on. But do not buy something just because of the color or the price. #Iwillfindyou
Pro Tip: Listen to Episode 97 | How to Dress Right for Your Body Type
This answer leads us to a TON of other issues about how to shop:
To recap, wanting something new in your wardrobe is empowering. Do things in your life that do not deplete you. Because when you deplete, deplete, deplete all the time, you have nothing left to give.
Do something for yourself. Especially if you feel guilty about spending money on yourself. You need to fill your own cup, so that you can then fill others.
Once you know how to dress in a way that makes you feel good (FIT), everything in your life is going to shift. People are going to start to ask you if you've lost weight, changed your hair, etc. There is something different about you because you decided to focus on you. The energy shift is inevitable.
And you're going to want to keep continuing to feel that way, which will encourage you to keep your wardrobe rotating, which will keep you practicing how to shop, which in turn is going to get you to stop hating shopping, which makes you nicer. And when you are nice, you're going to be nicer to me. And when I'm nice, everything runs smoothly.
Go shopping, get help in the store, try something new, make sure it fits. And, send us more questions!!
Listen to this full episode 117 to hear what our other fashion besties want to know about!
Keep them coming!
Your favorite personal stylist,
The Only Holly You need to Know
We are so excited to welcome a new guest to our Designer Spotlight Series: Gretchen Maull of GG Maull designer handbags. This is NOT your average designer, nor just another handbag.
Gretchen is an artist and a visionary, and we love having her on our podcast because she has built her business around empowering women and giving joy.
And #sorrynotsorry, but what else is there?
Designed in NY, and carefully handcrafted in Italy by cherished artisans — GG Maull is a handbag brand motivated by spreading JOY, building CONFIDENCE, and inspiring WOMEN.
But how Gretchen started her own handbag design company – and more importantly – why, is the real story.
Get the full episode here!
PRO TIP: This episode requires some visual assistance, so we recommend watching it on YouTube or visiting Holly's Pinterest.
How it started:
Gretchen believes in only having things in her life that "spark joy." She nearly lost her sister to a horrific car accident and came face to face with life's fragility.
She had been in a hospital waiting room for hours anxious and desperate to hear whether her sister would survive, when the doctor finally announced that she would make it through the night.
Her now-husband gifted her with a beautiful pair of black and emerald earrings. At the moment, in the ICU waiting area, it was not something she was expecting, nor felt she could be present for.
But he insisted, "If these bring you joy for two minutes, that's two minutes of joy you need right now." (Host note to ladies: Marry THAT man!)
Why GG Maull was started:
Joy in the face of incredible adversity. That moment laid the groundwork for Gretchen's drive to empower women and equip them to live their lives to the fullest.
She looked around and saw many women in New York struggling to perform multiple roles and responsibilities: building a career, being a sensitive friend, achieving their health and fitness goals, dating eligible partners, having a rich social life, becoming an adult, leading a community, caring for others around them, becoming a solid partner, managing a household, raising a family, taking conscious care of themselves, and being socially responsible citizens.
ARE YOU EXHAUSTED YET???
In these pursuits, Gretchen found the women she came across being weighed down physically and emotionally.
So, she was inspired to take her 10-year experience in handbag design under prestigious fashion labels to create her own brand characterized by functionality, aesthetics, and purpose.
How it's going:
Fast forward five years, and GG Maull now delivers functionality through handbags that can be worn multiple ways, including hands-free, with removable pouches that make it easy to change between handbags, and with even weight distribution.
Gretchen's objective in delivering these unique functionality features is to provide customers the feelings of lightness, freedom, strength and security.
"She observed her husband "preparing" to leave the house with astonishment that all he needs to do is grab his cell phone and wallet."
In contrast, she felt compelled to have a bag that gave women the ability to contend with expectations for the day ahead.
Women fill multiple roles during the day, from perhaps mother in the morning to executive by day to sexy dinner companion or concert-goer at night.
And while these roles certainly bear their respective shares of responsibilities, women don't have to feel anchored down anymore. With Gretchen's "multi-wear" approach, every woman can feel that as her role transitions, so can her handbag. Loving this journey for us!
Gretchen's designs are different because they are versatile. But they also look different because of her passion for the types of leather she sources and her love for all aspects of design: color, texture, uniqueness.
If you wear Gretchen's bags, you are considered one of her "Rebels," because her customer does not live, breathe or dress like everyone else.
A few of Holly's favorite styles:
Power Belt Bag
Don't call this a fanny pack, but it's a fanny pack. In the most glorious way! The Power Belt Bag can transition from a hands-free belt bag to fashionable tight cross-body to an evening clutch. #totallygettingthisone
Rebel Holster
Imagine the wild west of motherhood, when your hands are full, but you need your stuff handy at your side – well this 'holster' slips over your back and rests two small handbags at waist-level on your sides. You have to see it to believe it! (Hint, go to Holly's Pinterest board!)
Power Tote:
To address the age-old challenge of switching between bags, the Power Tote was designed with a removable insertable pouch with magnetic snaps large enough to fit a laptop. It also has an outside cellphone pocket, so you don't spend 20 minutes searching for it in the bottom of a deep bag. (PS, it's also a killer diaper bag). #Finally #ThanksGretchen
Cocktail Clutch:
The Cocktail Clutch was designed with unique beaded fringe and Italian snake leather and was inspired by vintage cosmetic cases. It has a silver-plated ADJUSTABLE brass wristlet chain, so your hands are free for cocktails and crudité!
There are just too styles many to love!! As always, Holly has hand-picked her favorites and created an episode board on Pinterest!
Holly and Gretchen talk about so much more than just handbag love. This is truly an in-depth conversation about purpose, women supporting women, being a female entrepreneur - and the powerful impact of choosing to live life with joy as an end goal.
We hope you will listen and come to love and appreciate Gretchen as much as we do! Follow her, support her, become a GG Maull Rebel!
Thank you for joining us again this week.

If you've been following this podcast at all, you will know by now that Holly loves to talk about boots. All sorts of boots – all styles, all heel heights, all brands.
Holly Loves Boots...and you should too.
She has reported seeing them everywhere at NY Fashion Week in the Fall of 2022, she owns a bunch herself and she almost never gets through a styling conversation without mentioning them at least 10 times.
HOW. EV. ER.
What we have not yet discussed is "How to Style Boots," which is different from "designers are showing boots right now," and "everyone is wearing boots this season." #FACTS
Example:
If you are a woman of a certain age, and you think you want to wear boots that go up to the top of your knees or even to the middle of your thighs, you need to try them on first.
If you have crepey skin that falls over your boot tops, these are not the boots for you. (You know what we are talking about, don't act like you don't!)
Get EPISODE 115 here!
There is absolutely no reason you cannot wear any style of boot you love. Cowboy boots, vintage boots, the new lug-sole boot. Boots are timeless (if not practical and just fab).
What matters is HOW you wear them.
(Pro Tip: As always, Holly has curated an episode-specific Pinterest board with all the style suggestions mentioned in this episode. It is always fun to follow along while you listen!)
So, let's start with the differences. Boots are usually determined by the height of the shaft, or the amount of leather or material that covers the lower part of your leg.
From there, you will find any heel height in combination with any shaft height. And, as with all shoes, a higher-heeled boot tends to be dressier, with mid-to-low heels being more versatile.
So how do you choose? Well, with some major caveats.
Fashion Crime Alert!
Do not wear Hunter rubber boots up to your knees if it is not pouring rain or a hurricane. And do not wear Ugg (we call them Uggggggly) boots if it is not 20 degrees outside. Period. You can walk the dog in them, fine. But these must be worn in. the. cold.
Holly does not care what the weather was when you left your house. If it stops raining or it warms up, you better have a change of shoes in your trunk!
And finally, the Care and Maintenance of Boots.
If you're already taking great care of your shoes, most boot companies want you to use a leather conditioner or a non-silicone, waterproof stain protector.
For someone who's new to the boot trend, the care of leather is a learned art. Instead, get to know your local cobbler or find a shoe person. Have your boots waterproofed, regularly cleaned, re-soled if needed, and fix those stiletto heels you keep ruining by stepping into the middle of cracks. Try not to do that, please.
In summary, anyone can pull off the boot trend! Just don't go too far out of your reality zone, try boots on before you buy them - and learn to take care of them so you can enjoy this timeless fashion trend forever.
FASHION CRIMES PODCAST
"The Best Fashion Friend You Never Knew You Needed!"
Hosted by your favorite personal stylist, Holly Katz.

Didn't your mother ever tell you that certain topics are not appropriate in polite society? Well… beyond sex, religion, and money - are FASHION and POLITICS.
What? How can those two words even be in the same sentence? Are you nervous yet?
This is a non-partisan issue, people.
Regardless of your politics (not goin' there), one thing you should know is that fashion matters in politics (as in everything) and our ROCK STAR guest this week is here to explain it all to you – IN THE MOST DELIGHTFUL WAY!
Meet Skye Ostreicher, otherwise known as The Political Personality. (Isn't that the mother of all oxymorons?)
Skye is the host of City & State's online video series, Political Personalities with Skye, where she brings a fun flair to New York state and local government-related conversations. Her goal is to interview politicians to bring out their personalities, not their politics.
Who knew? Politicians are people, too?
She also just happens to love fashion and has built her personal brand on her style choices (in a very male-dominated, opinionated world).
Skye's passion is to interview elected officials who determine the future of our democracy in order to humanize the person, not their political positions.
And, WHY, you say, would Holly bring THIS to the Fashion Crimes Podcast? (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!). Because just like fashion, people run from the things they are not comfortable with.
"Fashion is your friend, not your enemy."
Sound familiar? Well, Skye is here to tell us in this episode that politicians have hobbies, favorite foods, and families they love - just like you.
So maybe, if you get to know those in leadership positions as humans, rather than political operators, you just might find that you CAN stomach learning about candidates, political issues, and the people who make the laws in this country – WITHOUT FEAR!
Your Hostess with the Mostess, Holly Katz, admits early on that keeping up with politicians is "not her thing."
Well, obvi! Who enjoys that, let alone is not scared to death of the entire political system in general?
Meet The Political Personality:Skye was born and raised on Long Island where she earned a dual master's degree from Stony Brook University in public health and public policy.
She then went on to work in government affairs for eight years before being asked to spearhead the Mike Bloomberg presidential campaign efforts for Long Island at the end of 2019.
During COVID, which coincided with the end of Bloomberg's presidential bid, unemployed and locked inside, Skye began an online video series on her Instagram profile, highlighting on-the-ground efforts by local elected officials.
This series continued to grow into what it is today – after working with a few different media outlets, Skye has nearly 900 episodes total, all with the goal of highlighting the positive work of elected and appointed officials as they navigate the complexities of municipal and state government.
She has a passion for connecting people and facilitating positive political relationships. And guess what? We are OBSESSED!!
This week, Holly and Skye trade similar stories about stereotypes (politicians must dress conservatively), the mixed signals fashion can give in a professional or political environment – and how fashion can actually be a friend in politics!
Gone are the days of Hillary's pantsuit and office outfits. Like everything, what you wear gives signals of who you are as a person and can affect how people view and accept you. Especially in politics.
As politicians, if you dress too conservatively, are you out of touch and out of date?
If you embrace fashion and style, are you spending your tax-supported salary irresponsibly?
It seems to us that they cannot win.
However, Skye informs us that if you get to know the person – who happens to be a politician, chances are you might find a way to engage in politics without being overwhelmed.
Humanize the human!
In this episode, Skye and Holly hash it all out:
By the end – AS PER USUAL – Holly has adopted Skye as her new best fashion friend forever – and now they are planning a political fashion show during NYFW next September. The fashion gods have spoken – and these two shall meet.
