In short--nothing. 

Yeah nothing. Forget about people resistant to change. Instead find the others. Find the people who are seeking to make the same change you are.

One of the listeners of Weaver and Loom, Abdullah, asked a question on change--and brought up some bad advice some of his friends have been giving him. Namely, don't change or you'll no longer be your true self.

The memes, and quotes, and cliches of staying true to yourself and never changing is the most incredible amount of rubbish I've ever heard. 

This line of thought is terrible on so many levels... listen to this take down.

We received a question from Hamza Abdi, a listener of the show, asking what to do when we give YEARS to something, whether it be school, relationships, work . . . and then our lives pivot it can seem as if that past season is wasted.

BUT

New ideas come from the fusion of two old ideas. There are things, and disciplines of thought, relationships, and growth that we take on with us... and if apply them into our new environment unexpected things can happen.

Ikigai is a popular buzz word that has been slapped onto a venn diagram. 

I think it is "alright"--but suspicious of the fact that it is really a "Japanese Philosophy"--more like a Western idea/venn diagram made good by throwing an asian-zen-like-word on top of it. 

Instead--we talk about three OTHER words that, ironically, also make up a venn diagram which can help you discover your purpose and destiny.

You are the sum average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. And if you want to grow, you might need to ditch some friends.

It is undisputed that the environment which surrounds you determines how you will or won't be able to grow. 

Often, people spend decades working on themselves, going form self help book to self help book wondering why they can't seem to get any progress--but they neglect to change the environment around them.

It is like continuing to planting seeds in dry bed of rocks wondering why nothing ever grows . . . you must change the soil, the environment, to make it suitable for the growth.

If you want exponential growth tomorrow, then change your environment today.

If you were a farmer, it would be foolish to plant at harvest time, plow in the middle of the season, or expect to harvest your crop in the when you should be are planting. 

Yet, in other areas of our lives we mix up our season all the time.

Know what season you are in--and order your life according to your season.

If you fail to do so, you will end up frustrated and wondering why "nothing seems to be working"

We can fly (AKA live) only what we see . . . limiting ourselves to only flying when we can see and being stuck when storms and dark times come our way.

There are three laws of Thermodynamics:

• The first law states that energy cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system. (You were born with it in you)
• The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of any isolated system always increases.
• The third law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of a system approaches a constant value as the temperature approaches absolute zero. 

You were born with "it" in you--and meant to release your art and your energy.

Your work will alway tend toward chaos--it is your job to organize and build systems day in and day out.

The entire universe (by the very laws of physic) is working against you.

So if you are "at peace", fearless, issueless, facing no resistance--it is because you have succumbed to the universe and fallen asleep to your destiny.

When creating anything, communicating anything, leading anything--we must ask and answer these two questions:

Who is it for?

What is it for?

Then you must reflect and see if your actions are mapping to your audience and desired out come.

Often times our action are mapping to a who and what that is very different than what we CLAIM we are building.
