Australia has some of the sharpest scientific minds on the planet. Off the back of Professor Susan Scott receiving the PM's Prize for Science, recruiting more women into the sciences is a key objective of Australian Science Innovations, who provide science programs for schools. The summer bushfires decimated the NSW and Victorian bee population. Over 2.5 billion bees were lost, putting the honey industry at risk, and threatening the multibillion-dollar horticulture industry. Crops like almonds, avocados and blueberries, are entirely reliant on bee pollination. NSW Apiarists Association president Stephen Targett told the Two Murrays that the industry is being revived thanks to the help of beekeepers Australia-wide.

Would-be farm workers will be able to access up to $6,000 to cover relocation and travel expenses, as growers grapple with dire staff shortages. Coronavirus border restrictions have sapped farmers of overseas workers. the federal government had granted relocation payments for would-be farm workers in the 2020. The Two Murrays spoke to NSW Farmers President James Jackson.
