Africa Melane talks to Other Katherine Robertson
There is an old philisophical brain teaser that goes: "If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?"
Well, the same can be asked of charity work, especially as we approach Mandela Day.

This province has about 125 landfill sites. And back in 2010, MEC Anton Bredell told the Waste Minimisation Summit, the Western Cape has estimated that it has five years of landfill space left. And this is why waste-to-energy (WtE) initiatives are crucial.
Africa Melane talks to Lorna Fuller, Director of Project 90 by 2030
Project 90 by 2030 is an environmental organisation in Cape Town celebrating its tenth birthday this month.
Project 90 by 2030 was established as a national project of the Goedgedacht Trust in 2007. Their main purpose is to challenge South Africans to change the way they live and the way that they relate to the environment.
Africa Melane talks to Shaun Warner
At this time of year, as we approach Mandela Day, many South Africans make a special effort to help those less fortunate. But for some people, making a sacrifice for others and putting their needs first is a daily activity.
Shaun Warner is a poet and carpenter, who has been motivated by his love of the
written word, to teach kids in the Ottery area how to read and write.
His project is about a year old, and it has already grown from 18 kids to 47. And it all
began when he realised kids in the area still did not have basic literacy skills, despite
being in school.

The people at Sunshine Cinema are on a mission.
They want to take a quality cinematic experience to communities across this continent
that would otherwise not have the benefit of a simple pleasure like watching a movie.
They describe themselves as a “solar powered mobile cinema that converts solar
energy into social impact.”
The idea is that showing people compelling content, it will spark action and drive
positive social change.
