Africa Melane talks to Dr Tom Mabin | cardiologist
In the past week South Africans have expressed their grief at the passing of
journalist Sune Venter.
Sune who passed away at the young age of 32, was flung into the
media spotlight as part of the SABC Eight. The brave group lifted the lid on
Hlaudi Motsoeneng's questionable decisions and motives while heading the
national broadcaster.
Africa Melane talks to Gayle Edmunds
This time, the reformed villain Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) is in domestic bliss with his
fellow secret agent Lucy (Kristen Wiig) and the three orphans Agnes, Edith and Margo.
But when bad guy, Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), escapes custody, Gru and Lucy are
dismissed from the Anti-Villain League.
The duo then turn to Gru's brother Dru (also played by Steve Carell), to assist in Bratt’s re-capture. And that is when the adventure kicks off.
Africa Melane talks to Yvonne Wakeford
Yesterday we took a call from a listener who seemed to have a somewhat skewed view
on what life is like if you are a black South African.
At the time Yvonne Wakeford was listening to the show and decided to make contact.
Yvonne has recently returned from the U.S where she lectured in psychology at the
predominantly black Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Africa Melane talks to Lungisa Bezile
As the sun rose over Hout Bay yesterday, hundreds of frustrated and angry Imizamo
Yethu residents took to the streets, blockading entrances and stoning vehicles passing
by.
Yesterday the protestors said they were unhappy at the reblocking process in the area
following a devastating blaze that affected 1500 in March. Residents told
EyeWitenssNews they've been waiting for too long to be able to rebuild their homes.
And they say the council has dragged its heels in taking effective action to see them
rehoused.
Africa Melane talks to Deon Van Zyl
Often we have heard the knee-jerk reaction of City property owners, balking at the idea
of affordable or low cost housing in or around the CBD.
It seems many city dwellers suffer from the NIMBY syndrome: Not In My Back Yard,
when it comes to accodomating the City's working class or poorer sectors of the
community.
Africa Melane talks to Bathi Jwaai(Ethiopia Airlines Sales Manager)
IN the past week, the folks at Ethiopia Airlines have come under fire for causing huge
flight delays, having a knock-on effect, meaning many passengers who were to catch
connecting flights were unavoidably delayed, some for hours.
This comes at a time when the airline is trying to beef up its service with new planes
and special Rolls Royce engines.
