My example piece for my panel "The Music Theory of Sick Beats"!

It's got an A section in 12/8 and a faster B section in 4/4, connected by a bridge in 7, slowly morphing from triplets to regular 8th notes. The count for that goes:

I used an old Grundig reel-to-reel tape machine to create this dreamy soundscape from a piano recording I made a while ago. I scratched the reels and paused the tape more or less rhythmically.

It sounds super low-fi, and I really like it.

This week I got another synth, I promise I stop here, but I had this one on preorder for a while. It is the Fred Lab's Töörö, it sounds awesome, but it is quite deep so I still need to learn it. What I am starting to get the hang of is to have a workflow in the M8 to work with external synths and resampling. The more I use the M8 the happier I am I selected it as my first music device to learn how it goes. It can do everything!

In the current slop age, this kind of indie products made with love like the M8 or the Töörö are becoming my haven from all the enshittification going around
