Been home sick and was surprised with a sick new firmware update for the m8 (you can change waveforms in hypersynth, huge deal if you know the m8!) and was inspired to work on a new track. It feels good to get back to a synthwave track, but it still feels like it somewhat fits with what I've been doing for the last while. Hope you're all well - have a good week, friends!

Another little M8 composition this week. Kick and tom samples are from Loopop's Hexdrums pack -- ah if only I could afford the space and money for a Hexdrums! It has a strong appeal for me. The croaky frog acid bassline is a sound I sampled from the Bastl Softpop 2 and distorted using the M8's decay effect. This is the second week in a row that I'm trying a lofi quick n' dirty "mastering" process where I mix on the M8, apply the M8's limiter, then run that through a Bastl Bestie to add drive and a some feedback. The result seems to come out compressed enough, then all that remains is to adjust the level, but maybe I just have bad taste, heh. This is one of the most frog-like basslines that I've managed yet.

translated meaning from german "warm soft blood"

i absolutely love the production and the instrumental. i will for sure go back to the vocal production because its not quite as dynamic as i want it to be but its like 85% there which is totally fine.

lyrics are about my tuesday on which i got 7 letters from the finanzamt, germanys tax department. they were all fine but getting your post box filled with letters on one day is absurdly scary to me.

Once again, I have no idea what this is. Instrumental Triphop? Ambient Breaks? Whatever it is, it was a fun exploration of a triplet style beat, the resonator variations and chords somehow matching on top of that, while I have no idea why it works. The lead melody, while simple, adds a bit of wistful longing to the mix and gives this (for me, somehow) a bit of a James Last "Biscaya" vibe, which is why I added the ambient noises.
