  • Week 28 - kydlo - Tree climber
More grime, not part of the last track’s triptych. Lyrics were written but time wasn’t working in my favor this week.

  • Week 28 - .exe - Birth in Fire
M8 plus some extra effects with Supermassive.
This is the result of experiments to standardize my writing process.
I also tried some new filtering techniques.
I'm very excited for this track, I hope you like it.

  • Week 28 - amisoundin - take off
This one has been sitting waiting to be finished for quite a while. Got the lead synth idea from listening to Dungen all day, and later it just became a song. I hated the vocals for quite a while because it got away from the Dungen idea, but I shut that part of myself off because I think they fit the song. I still like the synth and the intro/ending.
This one took a while to spruce up. I'd appreciate any feedback, both artistic and technical. I tried to get it to a mastered state.
    I hope you're having a nice day.

  • Week 28 - Paisleyfrog - Boots and Cats
Let's do some ambient horror (from an unexpected place).
Actually found an appropriate picture! My son at a bookstore in downtown Milwaukee that has some free range cats. Love me some big orange bois <3
A couple months ago, two of my kids decided that I needed to make a song with sounds they provided me. I had NO idea what I was going to get, but what pretty excited about the direction it would send me. A few days later, I got this file in my texts. It is 3:55 of random squeaks, coughs, chirps, laughs and other assorted random noises. I started playing around with it, but wasn't really sure where to go with it. I had the initial idea of making some sort of dance track with a sampler, but nothing really clicked, and the ways I was messing with the sounds didn't really gel to my ears. After messing around with granular synthesis in week 25, I realized that was a great way to approach these sounds. I really figured out what to do when I thought of using PaulStretch as well. OK then, time for some ambient horror! All sounds are built from that original voice recording using various methods.
This track is probably busier than I would want for a soundtrack - I think I was mainly having fun trying out different things and seeing what sounds I could get. I was having a ton of fun just playing with controls and seeing what I could get. A track like this is so different than a song - it feels so much more like sculpture or painting - just having moments and places be good. Also has a very different feel of when I say, "yeah, I can stop" on a mix. This was fun, and apparently turned out OK - I texted it to my kids, and got back "LMAO That's amazing".
    Mission successful :)

  • Week 28 - Jason Nijjer - ember terrain
Downloaded the new beta version of Ableton, it has some interesting stuff under the extensions to explore, one really fun one is Vivarium.  This extension lets you paint a scene with different elements (clouds, seeds, dirt, bees ect.), each element grows and alters the sound design of the synth in Vivarium (which has a pleasant sound).  This inspired the week to make a nature infused track, went to my fav spot in the backyard under the Buckeye tree and hooked up the pocket scion to a lilac bush.  The energy of the bush sequenced the bass, mallets and the guitar like sound.  Didn't have time to record the birds chirping so used prerecorded sounds for that.  Thanks for listening, have a great week.

  • Week 28 - evanericksonmusic - Chopped Portraits
Gnarly week. Head hurt so bad. Wrote this song in an hour. I don’t like it. I think the chopped and screwed part at the end is fun, and I think when the drum break enters in the first section it gets kinda cool for like 30 seconds. So, some cool ideas. It’s fun to plug in a sample and move around the STA point on the M8. This is a clip of me performing on my clarinet album.
