A bit of a lazy one, I went with basically the first thing I came up with, and then did prett much everything past the first thing Sunday afternoon. My initial recording was much longer than this deserved, but trimming it down improved it I think. Just Digitakt, Tonverk, and Prophet this week. Plus: DE-7 delay returns for weird wobbles.

Less moody than usual, which is confusing. Who even wrote this?

### Production details

I wanted to start this one super quiet, slow and spacey because of the theme from the M8 Community Jam was "A Sense of Space". I envisioned just a few single notes with a long delay echoing out. I started playing with that idea and shortly reached a very tiny little tune with just three voices that I liked. All three voices actually are using the same synth patch, but just shifted one or two octaves apart.

Anyways, after getting the very basics of this tune, I felt "this one is done". Just very short and sweet, no bells, no whistles.

The playfulness here kind of reminds me of "My Imaginary Neighbor", my submission for Week 34 of WB 2024.

Howdy, friends! I don't have much to report this week. Just been working a bunch, sadly very little time dedicated to music making. Hopefully I'm able to get back on the horse and also do more commenting on the M8CJ and Weekly Beats.

Single instrument on M8.

WB version has some mastering tweaks in Logic. The audio in the video is rendered straight out of M8.

› notes‹ notesMy first idea collapsed in on itself, after a couple of hours of working on it. No time to transform it into something better before the deadline, so I bashed this piece together in about an hour.

It's a single FM instrument, spread over 4 tracks/voices. There is a bunch of "drunk" and other random modulation, in an effort to emulate live performance dynamics. The 5th track does a tempo randomisation each bar, to add to that live feel.

Added some extra width, EQ shaping and tape saturation/wobbles/hiss in Logic.

No idea what this genre is, I'd guess neoclassical because it reminds me a bit of LudoWic's trautonium work, but it might as well be ambient or something else entirely. Let me know if you know!
