  • Week 27 - Celio_Morya - Culture Cruisers - Breath
Music has always been my way of travelling without moving.
I've always been fascinated by the sounds that different cultures have created over thousands of years. Every traditional instrument tells a story. Every melody carries the spirit of a place, a people and a moment in time. That is what inspires me the most.
With Breath, I wanted to bring those worlds together. Ancient flutes, organic percussion and traditional instruments meet ambient textures, electronic Chillstep rhythms and deep cinematic atmospheres. It's not about replacing tradition with technology—it's about letting them exist together, finding a balance where the old and the new can breathe as one.
I don't see music in genres anymore. I simply hear emotions. Whether a sound comes from Japan, India, Africa, South America or a synthesizer built yesterday, every instrument has something beautiful to say. My passion is creating a space where those voices can meet naturally and tell a new story together.
The idea behind this track came from something incredibly simple.
    Breathing.
Lately, it feels like the world moves faster every day. There is always another notification, another headline, another reason to worry. We spend so much time looking outward that we often forget to stop and look inward.
Sometimes all we really need is to pause.
    To take one deep breath.
To remember that we're here, alive, sharing this small planet under the same sky.
Breath isn't meant to be just another chillout track. It's a reminder. A quiet place to slow down, clear your mind and reconnect with yourself, even if it's only for a few minutes.
If this music helps you relax after a long day, inspires you to dream, meditate, watch a sunset, walk through nature, or simply close your eyes and breathe a little deeper, then it has already fulfilled its purpose.
I hope this journey brings you as much peace as creating it brought me.
    Take a deep breath.
    Everything begins there.

  • Week 27 - Spaceman Fantastiques - venitian tears for venitian fears (kingdom hearts come, thy kingdom hearts will be done)
uhhh. yeah. earlier this year i saw a video of someone reacting to listening to venitian snares to the first time. it had been about 20 years since i had heard the song as well, and it stuck right in my brain, so i wanted to make something in the venetian vein. it sounded alright, but it was all too easy...so instead i decided to also make the same piece as chiptune and put each version into one channel only (left or right)...and that seemed...idk...boring. yeah it was cool but i wanted to feel more like i was experiencing them both at once, even though i already was. so...over the course of way too many hours this week, i chopped it all up and went in to making whatever the fuck this ugly monster is... i wouldn't do this again, but it was fun. it starts with some KH love because i couldn't stop playing dearly beloved this past week either, but i wanted to give it some 'spooky' flair. did some detuning of certain notes so it sounded like a shitty unloved piano. for the end bit, i used that same piano and played some gross chords, threw on this back beat and the lyrics came out of me as this plea from a loved one who wasn't with us anymore...at least not that we can see. it all struck me as fitting together even though it really shouldn't...
    anyway. thanks for stopping in!

  • Week 27 - NickLong - Golden Summer
For this weeks Weekly Beats I thought I'd do a follow up to last weeks track.
Teto has escaped the evil AI that was controlling her dreams and has met up with her friend Solaria. Together they are enjoying a well earned snooze in the sunshine after a busy day of foraging and creating a new society from the ruins of their AI overlords.
Gear wise it's Bitwig, Synthesizer V for vocals, Sublab on Bass
Drums are from Samples From Mars with a tumba pattern I wrote using Bitwig drum machine for a bit of latin spice.
Piano is PianoTeq Kawai grand which I haven't used for a while, but I still love.
I didn't go all in on Baby Audio this week, but I made liberal use of Spaced Out, Crystalline and TAIP as well as Grainferno for the very wonkey instrument that follows the piano and two instances of Atoms crossfading for the main pad.
The vocals glitching out is Arturia Fragments.
Musically very simple, it's the chord progression from Purple Rain but in F (I VI V IV) using all add 9chords for maximum 80's with a turnaround every so often.
I'm quite pleased with the vocal part. It's two completely different vocal parts singing the same words which interlock nicely (they are both highlighting different chord tones), gives some kind of folky choral vibe and not a type of writing I've done before.

  • Week 27 - BarristerPlong - Moments of Respite
I really like this chord progression and have been playing with it a bit. It's soft and melacholic, a remembrance of warm summer days and the people that filled them. This instrumentation I wanted to be evocative of the safe spaces between fear, something akin to the save rooms in Silent Hill or Resident Evil.

  • Week 27 - AdB - Heatwave Reboot
I figured out that trying to go back to WB right as we hit the middle of the year would be a nice second chance after dropping a few months ago. And what's better than ice-cold FM pads during those soul-crushing nights of heatwave?
The track is a bit rough on the edges, needs better transitions/mixing/polish but I really didn't want to miss the opportunity of uploading again.
    Thanks for listening!

  • Week 27 - Sir Bunting - 59 Funk
Beat subdivision is 15+15+14+15. And this is using the Enigmatic scale. Wanna bet that combination hasn't been done yet...?
