Another silly guitar loop driven by the mute noodle. Recorded the guitar parts, then left on a trip before finishing. Used a combo of clicking in the drum pattern and Logic's drummer feature to add some oomph. Not sure these drums fit the bill but oh well!

Bit of a rushed composition this week. I was in the mood for something cheesy and 90s-ish, using some of my soft synths. I'm heading out on a road trip and may not be able to post next week but will try my best to get something up.

What a rip cord life can be. All coiled up one minute, then just pulled in another direction to start running immediately. It's more useful to my survival to be inclusive. I guess that goes for my thoughts, too.

I can't believe we're already at the halfway point!  Okay, we just gotta do everything we just did one more time.  :)

This week I decided to re-visit a song I originally wrote back in 2007.  It was part of a pseudo-concept album I did back then called "Swelter" that was sort of about deserts and heat.  As we're starting to get some hot temperatures around here, it got me thinking about it again.  I always liked this song, and I remember playing it live a few times back in the day.  I wanted to see what I could do with it now.  I tried to stay pretty true to the original arrangement, just with the added benefit of what I've learned about recording music in the intervening years.

The other day when I saw you walking past my window

Then fade away reminded me of all the things I didn't know

The wind stirred up and it seemed like the palm trees were kissing

So I backed up, knew that there was something I was missing

Still it's so strange

Summer days float away

Summer days float away

Float away

Dust storm blew in still they come and go without no warning

Went for a swim 'cause it was already hot this morning

The a.c. quit, I was burning up in my apartment

Til sunset came brought along the welcome cooling darkness

Still it's so strange...

This song was built during the heatwave that hit France/Europe this week, mostly between 3am and 5am as I would wake up (voluntarily) during the night to open the windows and lower the temperature. Last Sunday I expected to finish another track but it seems my muse had other plans.

I have to say I greatly enjoyed the process. There is a comforting stillness at that hour. I felt refreshed. A bit like the calm I usually find below ground.

And it's week 26, the mythic half-point! From now on everything is shorter than what came before. Good week everyone, let's sail together towards the end.

Have a good week everyone!

Halfway through the year. Still messing with ambient. No knobs, only MPE. Knobs would be nice. Should I buy some knobs?

Inspired by the hfjONE soundtrack by cheesyhfj and spellcasting. I kind of wanted to make something that sounded sort of like a video game menu :)
