  • Week 26 - jetjaguar - Time
No particular aim this week other than to get something done.
Process notes on my blog, as usual.

  • Week 26 - 0F - i am now a real max msp musician
Cut from a long session of running various FMS loops through a granular Max patch and messing with the parameters. These are meant to be used as ear candy samples or percussive/noise bits in various tracks I'm working on but they kinda sound funny all together as a silly musique concrete kinda thing, so here you go.

  • Week 26 - Snyderman - Revenge of SID2x2
Took another crack at the same style I did for the last SID2(x2); the Beatmania IIDX Hardstyle or Nu-NRG from Toshiyuki Kakuta aka L.E.D. tracks like "The Earth Light", "Theme of Denjin J" and "The Strong Jaeger".
It's a little shorter than the first one, and I admit I cheated a little bit by essentially copy-pasting the last few sequences from the first SID2x2 since I ran out of time (submitting this late Thursday), but it is a generally denser track pound for pound. Pretty happy with it overall though.

  • Week 26 - Dyrt Dyzyrt - Know Any Better
    Hello again, Weekly Beat friends.
I had to go way back into the ancient archives for lyrics for this one because I just did not have time to write anything new. I added a quick bass and guitar part and lotsa reverb, et voila! I squeaked in a June submission right under the wire. Whew...
Thanks for listening! It means a lot.
› lyrics‹ lyricsInstincts tell me to go slow
    What you're thinking I don't know
My heart wants you to only want me
But I don't think you even see
How can it be any better
If I don't know any better
    No no no
I can tell you want somebody else
    So I sacrifice myself
I will settle for second best
Did I make you happy, did I pass your test
How can it be any better
If I don't know any better
    No no no
Call me a fool, call me naive
But you had some tricks hidden up your sleeve
Fell for them all, head over heels
Just wanted to find out how it feels
How can it be any better
If I don't know any better
    No no no
Now your eyes are tinged with red
I stay though I should run instead
Your hands round my neck, you seethe
Sparks in my eyes, I can't breathe
How can it be any better
If I don't know any better
    No no no
    Be any better
If I don’t know any better
    No no
    Be any better
If I don’t know any better
    No no no

  • Week 26 - Dank Receptor - Lag Optics
More FMS long form jams this week. This is a short excerpt from a 13 minutes long recording where I picked out the best bit. I like the half tempo vibe and restrained percussion being a main feature.
Programmed and performed with NanoBoyAdvance emulator and an 8BitDo hand controller. Recorded to stereo in Audacity. Slightly mastered in Ableton.
Thanks for listening, peace and love!
PS: Go Plastic is 25 years old today. What a masterpiece of an album!

  • Week 26 - cistern stairs - 237,000 miles
    Week 26
    Goal at start 6/23:
Do something simple because I need to put some time into other music projects this week. Also
I want to do a quick beat for extra practice once this one is done and uploaded.
    End notes 6/25:
Thinking about what is being “stated” emotionally through the music seems to be the thing that gives me the most edge. Not sure if the kick placement could be improved but I’ve worked on it as much as I’m willing to.
Also after I finished this I completed my goal of making a rough second beat in 1hr2min, so yay.
    Plan for next week:
Focus again on sensing what emotion is carried by music. Finish in time to do a second practice beat.

  • Week 26 - halfbyte - Stumble Dub
Felt like closing out June with *my* kind of techno. My dubtechno tracks are usually not that fast paced, but this felt appropriate and could be a nice segue into the massive dub step warbler I have in my head for next week.
The "fast" stab is a shaperbox special and lots of extra stuff on it. The arpeggio in the background almost sounds like what I had in my head, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

  • Week 26 - KaZu - Transition Workout
    Hi everyone :)
This week I felt like playing around with longer transitions, so I ended up making a track with way too many of them.
Hopefully some of you enjoy the result. :)
    Have a good one :)
    Cheers
    KaZu
P.S. I’m super grateful for any constructive feedback and opinions :)

  • Week 26 - gesceap - Hpit
I'm not interested in polished perfection
    Give me the irreverent presenter
    The stuttering orator
Give me the sands lost in the desert
And parade their uncompromising uniqueness in a sea of silicon
I'm ready for the half-baked half-wit on display
    The messianic message of apathy
I'll take it all in partially
and discard the capacity for empathy as "too involved"
Therefore knowing I've done my part
    In not doing enough
