Howdy. Welcome to my submission for week 19.

I've been listening a lot to "Hi This is Flume (Mixtape)", so this a weird, futureish, kick-snare track inspired by that album. The whole track started with the growly bass in the first section. I thought about making something creepy with unsettling sounds and some stereo pans, and that's how the first section was born. The latter sections were more of a struggle because I wasn't sure where to go after that. I ended up digging up some chord samples, the metallic snare from Ess's WERTSTOFFE (M8 track), and a vocal sample from BICEP's UMBER 006 stems. Mostly it felt like one of those weeks were you smash things together until things sound ok
This is the first time I tried chopping a vocal sample (or really used any kind of vocals in my tracks). I didn't have a goal beyond "chop up some vocals", so mission accomplished :). I've been intimidated by using vocals because it feels kind of intimate to take someone's voice and emotion, and then chop it up for the sounds. A vocal sample is also such a complete thing, like you almost have to build up a whole track around it. There's so much power in the human voice -- I have a lot of admiration for everyone on here who records vocals for your tracks <3.
