  • Week 24 - 0x_colt - TIMELESS
True and absolute speedtrash for this week. Only had 2.5 hours to work on this on Sunday, and I ended up uploading 1.5 mins before the deadline. Had to come back later for the video and the description!
    Hope you enjoy!

  • Week 24 - Xjs - Panic!
Very rushed production today. Started with less than three hours on the clock, with only the slightest idea of what I wanted to do. Given that, it went okay, but it's rather rough around the edges. Apologies!
The story behind it is that this week I listened to an audiobook where a ship chase across a sea vortex was described, where the vortex could only be crossed safely at high tide — and that I was at a tea house earlier today.
    › Lyrics‹ Lyrics
    First blips around your boat
A falling raindrop hits your nose
    No friend so far remote
The stars to trace the path you chose
The wind, it starts to turn
Whirling gusts that pull you farther out
    The kettle, left to burn
Whistling, your teapot short and stout
    Ever slowly, ever steady
Do you think you're ever ready
    evermore, eternal gravity
reminds you of your proper brevity
    Panic! The waves are coming
    Panic! The tides are rising
    Panic! The Flood is due
    Finish your tea and go!
    Won't you burn your tongue
You're only at your third infusion
    The wheel turns, before long
Can't see the stars through clouds, confusion!
    Won't you lose your course
You're heading in the wrong direction
    Give your ship the spores
A concoction for your whim infection!
    Panic! The waves are coming
    Panic! The tides are rising
    Panic! The Flood is due
Finish your tea and turn around!
    Ever slowly, ever steady
Do you think you're ever ready
    evermore, eternal gravity
reminds you of your proper brevity
    Panic! The waves are coming
    Panic! The tides are rising
    Panic! The Flood is due
    Finish your tea and go!

  • Week 24 - dadboy - Slack
Week 24: we can go speedier, trashier, and more ambient.
Also I've been bad at responding to comments (sorry!) but there have been some questions about a few parts of how I've been doing this M8 speedtrash ambient. Basically I'll just do a quick render sample of either internal M8 stuff or an external synth (sometimes TEO-5, today was the iPad Korg M1 app), often pitched up before recording. Then I'll pitch down the sample, downsample it somewhere between 2-4 times (there's not exact number, it's by ear), then I'll put a drunk LFO on the pitch just a tiny little bit to give it that tape warble, and I'll add more stuff and repeat the process several times over. If you're enjoying these little things, great! I'm glad. They're lazy but they've been fun to make. If you haven't been enjoying them, I think there are still 200+ other tracks each week that you could probably go check out :D
    Be well, friends!

so the last week or two i've been getting obsessed with subtronics, getting into the deep end of wubs and insane sound design. specifically i've been playing › this one‹ this one"Black Ice" by Subtronics/Rezz on repeat a lot and used it as the basis of my study this week. a really interesting arrangement to learn from and i did my best on minimal time to study the sound design and learn-by-doing for the gnarly sounds that subtronics and rezz are capable of.

  • Week 24 - xavier marques - Transição - Matéria
    "Transição" - Transition"
Hi! This week's WB is an excerpt from a recent gig I played. It features the final section of a trio of songs that make up Matéria, the video I produced together with my good friend and director Joaquim Pavão.
Here's a link to the video if you're curious. It features all three songs and you'll hear the studio version of this week's WB at the end.
