  • Week 24 - endojo - My Colors
This one threw me for an emotional loop. Got really attached to this song as it developed.
I hate sitting still. I hate being stagnant. I hate that I waited this long to let the music out.
In the end though, I love myself for what I am. The music I make is me.
I owe so many thanks to so many people in the Discord for helping me make my music better. That's helped me feel better as a human. You have no idea how much that means to me. WB might be the best thing that's ever happened to me, and you all are such a gift.

  • Week 24 - 0F - black metal trance
The only thing I really did this week. I had an idea to combine trance and black metal, and while this isn't quite there, I think it's something worth pursuing. It feels a bit awkward here because I just quickly added the drums to an older recording, so at some point I'll try making something specifically for it.

  • Week 24 - NickLong - Shíyī 十 Prime
For this weeks weekly beats I tried to do the same trick as last week and make a track using an odd time signature while making it sound natural and fun.
Turns out 11/8 is much harder to do that with than with 5/4
I had quite limited time so this is a very simple sketch.
Synplant did an update this week so I thought I'd make it entirely with 3 instances of Synplant and one of Microtonic all by the amazing Sonic Charge.
For those not familiar Synplant is a really crazy synth that generates patches by growing them as plants using genetic algorithms. So I generated a few patches and used what I've got. I still don't really understand it, but it's really cool and I need to spend more time with it.
The name is the Japanese word for 11 with the symbol and prime for 11 being a prime number.

  • Week 24 - RPLKTR - Structures from Disillusionment
I welcome all critical feedback. Can relicense if you're interested, just ask.
Another drone-adjacent ambient piece. This one unashamedly inspired by Steve Roach's "Structures from Silence". That one was a freeform performance on two OB-8s. Mine is an Osmose performance on two Ableton Melds.
50 BPM 4/4, C-major into G-major. For this year every cover art is a photo I took. Composed, recorded, and produced in Vancouver BC. No AI used in any part of the process.

  • Week 24 - evanericksonmusic - Principles of a Yogi
This week I really wanted to experiment with putting most of my effort into making a unique video to go with my song. I spent all week making my own face template for a woman’s lips in photoshop, then animating it all to the stem of track 3, then applying a bunch of FX and compositing it on top of a photo with my m8. It all went pretty much to my vision, but the only thing I couldn’t figure out was how to get the magic mask in final cut to isolate just the lips. I ended up having to drown it in colors, which does look cool, but I went into this wanting to make the pair of lips just floating on the m8 screen. This still definitely works—I’m just admitting a happy accident!
Hopefully you guys find this kind of weird stuff cool. I really want to make more custom visuals for my tracks. It’s definitely a lot of work, but I was pretty happy I could do this one mostly digitally. It’s easier for me to do work like this on my ipad in my lap than to sit up at my stop motion desk and hand animate things.
