What an amazing week of collaboration with so many different folks! This is why I love music. It can heal, conquer, and make you smile. Mr. Dave Lighting-Volta wanted to share harmonies on each other's tracks, and it turned out so great! And after listening to both of us side-by-side - yes, we are the same human in different places.

A lot of random things transpired to make this song end up where it did. The song was stacked/built by doing drums first, then bass, guitar, and keys. Vocals and lyrics came last per-usual, and Dave even threw in a totally new part at the end that led to... well, something pretty incredible.

That thing at the end? That MASSIVE wall of "slap-yo-momma" - yeah, that's insanity in bar form. What's even crazier is that I had just thrown in the bass at the end of the song, THEN stumbled upon DustSucker's sample in the folder.

This week was my first true COLABORATION! with the wonderful Endojo!!

It was so fun providing vocals on his track this week - plus having him do some backup vox on mine as well!

As always - constructive critisism accepted, and encouraged!

This is my first time doing a song NOT in 4/4 and it was wildly difficult ha ha. I've trried a few times before and always failed, but I FINALLY got it working this time! (I think this is technically 10/8 since even numbers made more sense for me ha ha)

Started with this bell thing that I thought I should just do a real simple minimal piece with just the bell and reverb and the abyss staring back at me - simple, elegant, peaceful. So I then shit all over that idea with a bunch of other stuff. I guess my alter-ego(?) poked his head out, took over and added a bunch of noises and drums and the kitchen sink. Happened again.

In other news:

I just got a Turkish Saz so maybe a piece with a Saz for next week. These things kick ass. Check out Seren Serac on Insta which is where I got the bug.

I started with the limitation of only using instruments from a SID pack I have. But in the end I din't like the sound of it so I reached for the Typhon and the Töörö to render some of the tracks to samples. I left the drums as SID cause I liked how they sounded. I realized that maybe 80 bpm was too slow, but I don't know yet how to time stretch samples, and have very little time this weekend.
