  • Week 20 - LeCroqueMonsieur - Madeleine Citron
Yet another iPhone creation (recording, mixing etc.), but that is what this year is about anyway. Probably one of my strongest creation in my opinion.
Madeleine are little cakes typical of French cuisine and I love to make them. It also happens that we had lemons (citron) at home in the South of France and I will cook just about everything with it. It’s a taste of home.
This song is that, it’s a bit of sun from the Mediterranean sea, the smell of citrus and just a fresh morning when I was a kid.
Got inspired by a lot of Parcels I was listening to lately and wanted to do “medieval funk”, which happens to sound almost like flamenco… who knows? Besides, solos have always been my weakest point and bass heavy stuff is my staple. This was a completely new style for me and I loved it.
    Enjoy!

  • Week 20 - monstret - smile like it never hurts
    week 20!
had to go on business trip so here's a rough finish of a track I started pretty early in the week for once but then work completely took over. That said, I’m happy with how crazy it sounds.
I was trying to create something a bit chaotic and difficult to follow and I knew I had succeeded when my friend said that it sounds like a robot being operated on.
The idea I wrote it to was someone in an abusive relationship, stumbling through life and trying to cope.

  • Week 20 - nukecult - Nebula
Spent the whole week configuring my new OXI E16 to live modulate the instruments, and on Friday I had to start from scratch and just do something without modulations, just rendering from the M8. It was painless this time. This challenge forcing me to finish "songs" is making me learn a lot.

  • Week 20 - rdomain - Ghost Caller
A loop created on the OP-1 Field which is then also looped on the Microcosm with the Oto Boum and Bam on the end of chain.  911 phone recording sourced from Youtube.  The phone recording is pretty dark so it's slightly hidden in the mix which is also effective sonically and conceptually.

  • Week 20 - PeterM - NIGHT MIND
I tried to take my noodling to a different level this week. Instead of just recording a full noodle, I noodled for a while and found a little melody idea to turn into a song. I kinda like it! I like the little chord progression and the little octave echo at the end of the phrase feels nice to me.
Anyway, I finally managed to not leave this to the last minute and had some time to make something a bit more polished. Thanks for your patience!

  • Week 20 - Cosmic Cairns - Utterly Uncivilized
There's a lot that needs to change about our world.  I took that idea and ran with it a little far.
    ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I know we're merely animals but why must we
    Always act so utterly uncivilized?
We could have saved the world a million times over
Instead we gave it all to a few rich guys
Pinned down by the boots of clowns
Let's flip the gameboard upside down
No more playing by the rules
    Of these overprivileged fools
Maybe this world needs a complete makeover
    On its most constituent levels
Let's remake the clouds and all the landmasses
Try to chase away the greedy devils
Make some noise let's scream and shout
    Turn the ocean inside out
Fill the air with forceful wind
    Replenish the oxygen
Turn the night into the day
Spin the globe the other way
Shake the tree limbs all around
Send the fat cats tumbling down
Let's watch them fall into Hell

  • Week 20 - jetjaguar - Music For Apricots
    Aims this week
This week the things I tried to do differently were:
Make something kind of danceyNot worry about sticking strictly withing a key at any given timeKeep the mix dry
On the second point, I semi-regularly modulate between keys, but I don't often have a melody or chord progression that includes notes from outside of a given scale.

As usual, I have process notes on my blog.
