Hello WeeklyBeats! I know I'm a little bit late to the game, but better late than never, right?

This is just a short bit I did using samples. I like to use samples mainly because I struggle getting my head around learning the keyboard or even putting together things on a piano roll. Despite this, I'll try and mix in some MIDI with samples later down the line.

I'm falling a bit behind this week and worried about missing the upload deadline so here's a simple track arranged in Bitwig, all software instruments. I experimented a bit with layering the bassline to make it interesting. The drums are Tekno, which was a completely frivolous purchase but it does make some nice sounds.

You know, just your standard phrygian dominant 19 EDO bacchanale about robots.txt. Whatevs.

The little buzzy FM instrument at the beginning suggested that riff to me, and it was kind of all downhill from there. Added the vocal sample (again, Cosmos: War of the Planets) about halfway through the process, and that had me thinking of web crawlers, LLM weenies strip mining the Internet, and (somehow) the Drummers in Diamond Age. So that's all in the soup too.

I really liked the melodic twang of the mode/tuning here, but it did limit my harmonic choices. Fortunately, it ain't called WeeklyChords.

some granular pads from babyaudio grainferno spaced out with reverb, then smashed a few more reaktor percussion generators through effects chains to reassemble and glue with some gated chant vocal. monday evening calm and chaos thinking ahead to the next few weeks: friend visiting town and crashing at my place this weekend, then next week my first international flight overseas to Sheffield UK (doing visuals for Nevada Hardware at Resistanz Festival). exciting stuff but also has me a bit anxious of all the travel and stuff outside my normal routine.

yea, first time singing in german here.

The beat happened somehow and i knew i had to give it vocals. the main verses are mostly improviced and the chorus was a melody idea i had the day before i recorded everything.

the lyrics are about being a kitchen shelf and watching the life of the person in who's kitchen you are and you are not buying the life changes that person is trying to pull off. new friends, new clothes and just full on costume party stuff.

This song is on the more chill side for me. Sometimes I feel like I go way too intense, and need to just reel myself back in with heavy loud sounds. I'm sure the reality is that I need to ease into things more. But either way..  These past few weeks have been super busy.. I'm not having any trouble at all keeping up with the entries this year, and I definitely feel like the quality of my entries is higher than ever. But I still need to lock tf in. This year has been tremendously good for me for growth.

So I guess this song is about leaving something behind.. and it's shorter because.. we don't need to dwell on that. We can just let it go, and move on.
