I was told I was intimidating yesterday, and I was told by another person that I didn't live up to my bad reputation (not in those words, intended as positive). Not sure exactly what to think about that. I don't try to be intimidating, but I also don't try to be a people pleaser or go out of my way to avoid conflict.

I was out last night and heard "Rubber Glove Seduction" by PTP: "Try so hard to be approachable; I'm a nice guy, underneath it all" seemed to fit the mood.

Still learning my newer gear, still figuring out how I want to use it. I think I either need to not think of Tonverk as a sampler, or think of it more as a sampler. It's definitely a bit too easy to go too far with it, trying to figure out how to make usable things a bit better.

Alpha Juno for the lead strings pad, always reliable at such, run through the Death By Audio Rooms. The wave algorithm continues to be my favourite.

Less rushing this week, but still could've probably used a bit more time to develop my ideas. But I've got long weekend plans! Gotta get it done so I can be social!

After walking in the oceanic wave and tripping on the reflections of the water on its ceiling, we find a door to a stairwell that seems to go down in the depths of the Earth.

This is the 5th movement of a long-form ambient piece I'm working on. It's all made on a Synthstrom Deluge with custom patches, collected samples, and field recordings. I found a good workflow that works for me and, yet again, the Deluge enables me to work it out without much challenges.

Not actually traumatic at all - this piece was sort of limited by the fact I needed to leave down for the weekend, which meant I needed to travel and compose light, so no multi-device setups. I brought along my Digitakt ii in an effort to flesh out its sample library in the pursuit of a new piece. There were two pieces I made previously for Weekly Beats 2026 which pumped melodic content through a effects-laden delay line to create clouds of noise, and I wanted to see what happened if I yanked out a few chunks of sound from those clouds at their most interesting and dense points to make a new piece. So that's what I did - I performed a little biopsy on my piece Caustic Fermata (title hint...) to create a few pads and stabs, then arrived eventually at this piece! Didn't plan out my time super well, so this one is also a little rushed (should have cleaned up the reverb at least), but glad I could add some new samples to this little toy of mine!

I'm trying to practise and get better at orchestral work as I'd love the chance to make more music for visuals, whether that's games, tv, film. I feel I have a long way to go, though!
