Still very much a work in progress, this one, but should complete it soon

This is a total rework of a track which I made last year. (The original vocal is from a friend who offered the stems to work with)

The chords were made using Ableton Live's Expressive Chord device, and going by feel, rather than planning anything out.

Also I realised I added an odd time signature section, but also it sounds good, so going with it :)

I'd appreciate any feedback anyone has on the mixing, even very small nit-picks are helpful!!

Hey everyone :)

Do you know that feeling? For weeks there are basically no big appointments coming up, and then suddenly you end up with at least one appointment on every single damn weekday. I’ve been wondering my whole life how that always happens.

Why not just one appointment a week? Then you could peacefully work on your music… but nooo, that would be way too relaxed ;) Well, I’m just happy I made it in time. *phew*

Anyway, here’s my entry for this week.

Growing up, the NES Golgo 13 soundtrack made a huge impact on me. I wanted to do something like that, but got squeezed by time and didn’t get the sound design right. I ended up with a repetitive loop that, thematically, landed someplace between Top Secret Episode and Ninja Gaiden 2.

Oh well. On to next week!

Sky running is a high tech, futuristic version of parkour or free running. Sky runners practice their craft in the clouds above skyscrapers, playing at the interface of space and gravity and risking their lives for the thrill.

This week features a shameless use of the Amen break, a pad sample from a Yamaha CS1X synth (that I wished I could buy when I was a teenager), a choir, BBC strings, a hidden Rhodes, self-recorded acoustic guitar and bass from NI Razor.

Quick little one this week. Almost didn't get myself to spend the time to do it this week. Typing this in the car on the way to the airport after a restorative vacation with my wonderful partner and some close friends.

Messed around with a ukulele that was at the house we stayed at and put a quick beat over it with some soft synths in Ableton. Got some field recordings of the frogs and rain for some added texture.

And it's just above the one minute minimum without planning! :P

TL;DR: Things didn't go as planned this week. I should know by now that they rarely do when it comes to WeeklyBeats ;)

I had a pretty clear vision going into this week. I wanted to do a chipmetal track with lsdj and guitars. I had Dr. Wily Stage 2 and December Flower (In Flames) in mind when I started.

I came up with a couple of decent riffs, but I also stumbled upon a completely different thing when I messed around with the guitar. It was a slow alt-rock/shoegazy chord progression that immediately inspired me to write lyrics.

I spent some time on the second idea and got the lyrics done. I had the arrangement in my head, so all I had to do was to start recording guitars.

This was on Tuesday. Then I didn't do anything else until the weekend came. All of a sudden I felt that I didn't have enough time to realize any my initial ideas.

Backup plan kicked in: I created a short loop on the OP-XY and then made a quick arrangement in Logic. Added a couple of guitars to make it a bit more interesting.
