Sorry for the stupid name. I called it this because the workflow that I used for this one was inspired by what Dadboy wrote about the process of some of his ambient productions. I did a lot of resampling and downsampling for this one. I made a start with this during my summer holidays. I continued working on it the past week, while in Zurich for a work trip. Also quite some use of PVB FX to get a bit of a tape effect.

The track was composed on the m8 tracker but I made a nice sausage out of the track in Ableton.

My submission for the WBFSC fortnightly challenge that I've been joining in on, having lots of fun with it.

This week was remixing Riding Into Dawn by Huabun who kindly provided stems for us to use. This made it much more fun for me in particular because I like manipulating separate sounds as much as possible. Every sound in this track except for the Kick and the Think break are sourced from the stems provided. Done in Ableton because I prefer that for longform samples than my M8.

Then my bike got stolen on the Saturday so I'm glad I finished before that because my will may be fucken broken now.

Due to weekend scheduling, I pulled this one in to late Thursday and Friday. I started with the thought of choosing a dissonant figure, and having to work around it. As I typically do, I found a way to move a bunch of barre chords around. It mostly works, though I'd like to re-track the pedal tone section where the timing is off.

Three* tracks of PureSalem Mendiola (first version), a bit of the Echo plugin on L and R, some convolution reverb for everything, and the compression/eq/limiting on the stereo mix. The asterisk is because one note tail sounded better decaying across a bar line, but there was a note that had a firm attack there. So I added a channel for that one note.

The title comes from Fountains Fell Tarn, the southern peak of which has an elevation of 662m.

A sketch on the dirtywave m8 that I arranged "live" as I streamed the audio to Ableton where I used Surge (the open source synth) to add a few more layers to sounds and some transition sounds.

It took me a while to finish this song. Not convinced it's any better for that extra time spent. Lesson learned?

I've declared it finished, more so I can move on.

Tried and failed to collab with someone this week unfortunately, so I feel bad uploading a track that is not a collaboration with that person, but I will collab with them again at some point.

My take on a mythical dame of the lake (on fire) that is helped by knights to quench the flames. Mixing balade, epic, solo and whimsical lyrics in French.

It (re)tells the story of the summer after I was born when a huge fire engulfed the lake next to where my parents were living, how the embers flew over the lake and burnt everything around and how at night you could see from dozens of kilometers around the flames towering at 20m above the canopy.

I took an Arthurian way of retelling this from the point of view firefighters, how they get ready to battle the flames and how there’s a blue dragon under the lake, how a giant metal bird (Canadair) just “vomitted” water to help them etc.

It took a bit the way of the adventure rock of bands like Hällas for example but with more classical guitar (mediterranean castle stoner wink wink). I had tons of fun recording it especially given how extremely busy was my week.

This is a complex recording, 13 tracks on a phone that made the software crash a few times.

So 3 classical guitar tracks, 2 drum tracks (one at 70bpm and another one at 140bpm), 3 electric guitar, 2 voice tracks… it took all my skills in GarageBand mastering to keep things in check and to finish it with a classic rock fade out.

Pretty chuffed about it lads and gals.

first time laying a finger on fl studio, transitioning from the beepbox midi tracker, and i'm liking it so far!

spent around 50 hours of learning and i feel like im making good progress

Initially i built this track around the mid-section where I began diving into a "diminished" chord progression, and decided to fledge out the main song composition after I had fully solidified the bridge section

It's crazy how much versatility vital has despite being a free plugin

I havent really produced any works in this genre until now, so this is a little new to me
