  • Week 16 - 52beats - Anxious
Lots of glitch, and rapid rhythms. The goal is to convey anxiety. Like you are driving through traffic, or running through a crowd.

  • Week 16 - K48R - Rejection, Exploration, Acceptance
Tough mental health week for me and I struggled to produce anything.
Finally landed on this peaceful ambient piece as I felt the fog lifting.
I spent most of the time on sound design. This is a place where I felt like a better EQ than Bitwig's stock one would have helped, but I don't have a go-to right now since Ozone doesn't run under Linux. Alas.
I also feel like this track could have used a bass. I tried for hours to find one that work, and all of the attempts made the track worse so I just left it out. What do you think - should I keep trying?

  • Week 16 - As_Yoesual - Artemis 2
I didn't follow much of the latest around the moon event-thing, but somehow did get a bit inspired by it.
Slightly more unusual for me, as I tried to stay closer to a regular structure with choruses and whatnot for once.
I started building the track around the bassline, its vibe inspired by SQF's week 15 track's bassline, which I eventually dialed back a bit because there is already so much going on in the track.
Again, a long track (what a surprise, I know), and to me, it feels a bit stale at some point.
Then again, I think I've heard the track for what feels like 10 hours now, so the track is dead to me XD
Hope you are doing well, stay healthy!
    *hugs*

  • Week 16 - rayjkayj - Dream Half Remembered
Image in video from the 1992 movie Toys
Recently went down a lil’ rabbit hole with Dreamcore/Liminal music so wanted to try my hand at it. Definitely very crude and simple compared to what I’ve heard, gonna give a proper go in the future.

  • Week 16 - muhamor - Never Gone
    Hi hi!
    › Production Notes‹ Production Notes
Back to m8 this week and trying out a new genre. For like two months on here, I've been inspired by Coldsushi's future bass productions on the M8 (go listen to Coldsushi's stuff!). In week 10, I asked them how they approach their songs and have been waiting for a chance to apply the ideas. This is my own (very rough) attempt at it. Stuff I tried:
    - big hypersynth swells and pads
    - subdued drums
    - using OTT on the mix
    - my favorite reese bass patch to fill out the low end
    - 3-4 drops! (some larger than others)
    - aggressive sidechaining of the syths/and bass to drums
    - EQ'ing out the low end on all the synths
    - EQ'ing out the stereo low end on bass elements
I'd love to get some feedback on the mix -- I think some elements feel a little too quiet and others are maybe a little too loud. OTT is also a little bit hard to manage -_-
    Thanks for stopping by <3
