Tammenterhoja is Finnish for Acorns. This song is based on a snippet of text I wrote on my phone sometime in 2023 while in the playground with my child. Today I was looking over my notebook and these words seemed to shine in a special way, ready to be made into a song. So here it is.

› Process‹ ProcessI found the chords that felt right for the song by strumming on my ukulele, recorded the ukulele and then freestyled the singing on top of that. Made some volume adjusments, but tried to maintain the way the song naturally flows from softer volume to higher and back down.

Original Finnish Lyrics

-------------------------

Taskussani on tammenterhoja

pienen lapsen keräämiä

Tammenterhot vierii alas

liukumäen metallia

Tyytyväinen virnistys

liukuu niiden perässä

Mieleeni säästän muiston rakkaan

Jo valmistaudun sekoittamaan kortit pakkaan

Mutta vielä juoksee hän portaat kerran

Vielä ehditään leikkiä

hetken verran

Lyrics translated to English:

----------------------------

There are acorns in my pocket

picked by a small child

The acorns roll down

the metal of the slide

A satisfied grin

slides down after them

Into my mind, I save a dear memory

Already preparing to return the cards to the deck

But he runs the stairs once more

We still have time to play

for a moment

ultimate acid resonator.

part of larger recording. i'm starting to move away from 'write one song a week' to more of a 'write a full release a week'.

It was nice exploring things differently from recent weeks. slowing the bpm down, getting some cool sounds from the MIA.

I am however considering starting to live stream my recording sessions. is that something people would be interested in?

Started a Game Boy tune partially as a joke since NickLong called my last track "Game Boy drum and bass" although it very quickly moved away from DnB and more towards European video game music (think SNES/GB/GBC era).

Had a productive flow of ideas for a while but lost a little steam at the end since I'm out all weekend and needed to submit by Thursday. Ah well I'm mostly happy with it.

Sometimes you grip so hard it hurts. Let go of it.

This was mostly improvised with stuff and things.

I think the Artemis II mission captivated a lot of people, and the communications and interviews from the crew seemed intent on reminding us of the possibilities that come from human ingenuity and collaboration, seeing the constructive side of humanity in a time where the destructive side is broadcast everywhere.

I saw a post on social media that said as kids, we were promised Star Trek future, and instead got Hunger Games future...but that this past week reminded us that Star Trek future still exists.

This weekly beats is a small tribute to steering ourselves towards Star Trek future.
