Hello there.  This week was heading towards another random noodle until I went thru some old track ideas in my scratchpad folder.  This was sort of an improv/bounce test back when I first got the new Ableton update that would allow you to quickly render a midi track to audio.  So it kind of created a sloppy rhythm between the different instruments.  But I had totally forgot about this because a few days later I would have the great “ginger cpu crash of 2026” make an appearance.  So I dusted parts off and yea I still hear some blemishes, smears and bloops maybe I would change in a perfect world but hey have you seen the guy in charge?

Back from Japan! Even though I had plenty of time on the 13h Flight from Taipei to Prague, I didn't quite have the energy to fully engulf myself in the dirty waves. I did do more of the same as on the way to Tokio last week. Bass, breaks, delay lay lay lay.

Distortion is a beautiful thing. This track moves and pulses. A bass that in its lowest regions sounds like it can barely hold its shape. Magnified and contorted like a deep-sea fish brought to the surface. The lack of pressure makes it dis-form and swell up. That's what I feel the distortion is doing this. Sprinkled with shards of metallic sounds while sitting in a layer of noise.

This was a basically a throw away warm up track. A thing quickly thrown together before getting to my real tune this week.... Except, I end up liking this one better. So here we are.

Anyway and all feedback is welcome. And if you leave comment I'll surely comment on your track as well.

So, I wrote the original iteration of this song roughly ten years ago and performed it at a few solo acoustic gigs, but I never got around to recording it. As with most of my songs written with acoustic and voice, I had other layers in mind to flesh it out, but the main hindrance for this one has been an uncertainty of how I wanted the drums to be, so I kept putting it off.

This week though, I thought I would have a more focused play around to see if I could find a beat, and I think this one works well enough. I also changed some of the lines that were essentially placeholders in the original version (yes, I was performing it a bit unfinished and internally cringed each time I got to one of the placeholder lines). I think maybe this isn't quite the version I was hearing in my head, maybe a bit too janky/busy in certain parts, but at least it exists outside of my head now.

Maybe I am just a fool for believing that we all belong on the pages in the same book of life

Got an Ableton Move. I have feelings but for now figured I’d see what I can do. Tt303 into m8 for fx processing but everything else is the Move itself. Using the song mode from Schwung allowed me to tweak the 303 while the track played through itself. I had a lot of plans and ideas this week but they all fell through. Nothing but normalization, everything else just as it came from the Move

100% splice samples, mixed and matched until it made some sense. :D

The track is inspired by spicy thai food, hence the name.

Half hour acid alert! Easter holidays equal less time for jamz and more time for marzipan.

I continue last week's experimentation with different tunings on the MonoMachine. Landed on an 11 EDO this Sunday for that ridiculous acid skewage. Fun times.

Live jam recorded to stereo in Ableton. One pattern looping ad nauseum, ad hoc muting the two drum voices for DYNAMICS and tweaking the octave knob on the sequencer for ARRANGEMENT. MnM acid bass goes through an Alesis Midiverb (setten and forgetten) for ambience.
