It's been a pretty uninspired August at Weekly Beats since I've been otherwise engaged with music in other competitions (Dwelling of Duels) and other work. Frankly I'm a bit tired of looking at DAWs and could use a bit of a break.

A pretty by the numbers exploration of a dance and trance themes with a slightly unnecessary key change towards the last third. Not really a full song but like most weeks there's a few ideas in there I plan to revisit at another point in time.

Ambient thing this week. I got too much new gear (again) and I haven't learned it. I had some ideas that I was interested in pursuing but they need more time, so I did some guitar noodling through one of the new gears I haven't really learned yet, the Chase Bliss Bad Mood. I also put my playing through Tonverk for some parallel processing that I am not sure if I used it well enough.

At any rate, I liked my textures better than my noodling so I did a blunt cut to remove most of it, which worked out surprisingly well. I need to sample bits of it probably and make something more deliberate.

Something last minute like every beat this year it seems, but I've been pretty busy with work/dad life/and stress testing the Decaying Salvage demo - which is OUT NOW on Steam!

With Decaying Salvage - I made 90% of the sound FX (like actually recording things into the mic and messing with them/layering them) as well as all music, please give it a play! 90s survival horror in spaaaaace.

Dual Rec and an Ibanez S tuned to B for a change, I don't go the down tuning road all that often, but last weeks D standard got me trying to break out of the usuals. Also trying really hard to play bass fingerstyle instead of a pick, its hard lol.

Also on my 3rd week of semi analog mastering, going through the daking comp into the SSL Eq, the a digital ITB Limiter. Its harder and more work, but loving the tweaking process. Getting less consistent masters, but learning along the way.

Also in the pic is the Laney Nathan East Preamp which Ive been using for most of this last 3 months or so for direct bass distorions.

This cube has an extra side, but still seems... cubish.

Are polyrhythms poorly named if they are common time in a culture - Bulgarian folk music lives in 5,7,9,11.  I never liked the term polyrhythm because it would apply to every rhythm.  Anyway, tried to make some synthwave in 7 with a big chunky chiptuney square lead.  Makes me happy.
