In this solo episode I share my experience at my institution pride flag raising. I had the honor of speaking at our pride flag-raising event, where I emphasized the profound significance of the pride flag, not just as a marker of Pride Month, but as an emblem of our support for the LGBTQIA community. The pride flag is a celebration, a testament to our queer joy, and a tribute to the rich and resilient history of our LGBTQIA predecessors.
Sharing my journey as a queer woman in front of my community was a deeply vulnerable experience. As I delivered my speech, I was met with a confluence of emotions - from the elation of being seen and validated to the anxiety of exposing such a personal part of myself. The weight of these feelings didn’t dissipate immediately after the event; rather, I carried it with me, processing it through self-care and therapy.
One of the most significant takeaways from my experience is the importance of building and being part of a supportive community. I encourage everyone, particularly those struggling with their identity, to seek out allies and support systems. Reach out, ask for help, and surround yourself with people who lift you. It’s in these connections that we find strength and resilience.
Thank you for being here and your support:=)

In today's episode I had the pleasure to speak to Ana Lopez, MSW, MEd. Ana Lopez is a proud Latina, doctoral level sexologist, and Certified Sex & Life Coach. Her mission is to help women shed the shame they have around sex and teach them to have guilt free pleasure. Ana utilizes her background in therapy, cutting edge research, and coaching techniques to aid women in getting to the root of their sexual frustrations while teaching them to utilize the only pleasure tool they will ever need: the mind.
Ana's teachings revolve around the empowerment of experiencing pleasure independently. She helps clients, particularly Latina women, detach from the notion that pleasure is contingent on external factors. It's an eye-opening reminder that we possess an innate ability for mind-blowing pleasure without reliance on a partner's mood or the acquisition of consumer-driven props.

Hola and welcome to another solo episode!
With summer around the corner, social media and various advertisements are bombarding us with the concept of the "summer body" or the "beach body." Let me tell you why this notion is toxic and harmful. Diet culture thrives on making you feel inadequate about your body so that you engage in restrictive eating, dieting, and excessive exercise. This not only makes a profit for the diet industry but also perpetuates harmful ideals about beauty and social acceptance.
As someone who has gone through the toxic cycles of diet culture, I understand the pressure. I used to do all sorts of things to "get ready for summer," but that approach led to nothing but body shame and dissatisfaction. My first piece of advice is to honor your body as it is right now. Your summer body is the one you already have, and that is the counter-narrative we should all embrace. We don't need to change our bodies to fit into society's narrow definitions of beauty.

In today's episode I had the pleasure to speak to Cynthia Chavez, a former educator, community advocate and organizer, translator, artist, stretching therapist, and creator of @ccynergywellness.
Her holistic wellness journey- restoring and reclaiming her body, is inspired by the illness in her life and her family. She strives to inspire others to break trauma cycles and deprogram from extraction in our bodies; by restoring our right to collective well-being and connecting with our bodies as vehicles for healing our body, mind, and heart.cShe also shares wellness seeds on the interconnection of our wellness- mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.
In this episode Cynthia offers a poignant reminder of the importance of connecting with our own bodies, reminding us of the importance of holistic wellness and the pivotal role of stretching for physical and emotional health. She advocates for tuning into the body with deep breathing and basic stretches, particularly significant for beginners, to improve flexibility, posture, and overall well-being.
While society often pushes us to ignore our own needs, honoring our bodies and tending to our inner landscapes with compassion is not only an act of rebellion against a culture of constant doing but also a profound form of self-love.

Hola!
Welcome to another solo episode.
As many of you may already know, Mexico recently elected its first female president—a monumental and historic moment. Some might question whether we should feel elated or skeptical, and that's perfectly valid. What this signifies is that we must acknowledge the shades of gray in our feelings. We can celebrate this landmark event while simultaneously recognizing the immense work that lies ahead.
I love to invoke Gloria Anzaldúa's concept of "nepantla"—a state of in-betweenness, contradiction, and complexity. This is where we find ourselves, celebrating milestones while acknowledging ongoing challenges. It’s a process of holding space for joy, sorrow, success, and grief all at once.
I invite you to hold space for your joy and aspirations while also recognizing and addressing global injustices and atrocities. You might often feel guilty focusing on your challenges and triumphs when there is so much suffering and injustice in the world. I assure you that it is possible—and necessary—to hold space for both. Feel your joy and your sorrow, your anger, and your hope. This duality does not diminish your pain or your happiness; it's what makes you human.
I urge you to channel your complex feelings—your grief, your joy, your rage—into transformative actions. This doesn’t mean you need to be in the streets protesting; it could be as simple as reconnecting with Mother Earth, writing letters to your representatives, or engaging in spiritual and ancestral ceremonies. Your actions, however small or grand, contribute to the collective effort to create a just world.

In this solo episode I talk about community cultural wealth. This framework was developed by Dr. Yosso, which highlights the unique assets students of color possess through their cultural experiences, backgrounds, and networks.
Reflecting on my own life, I've often encountered challenges where community cultural wealth became pivotal especially when I experienced the imposter phenomenon, and reframing negative self-talk. Let’s delve into these forms of wealth.
