A Wellington florist says the construction of a cycleway into the CBD will end her business.

The plan to remove 150 car parks from Newtown to the Waterfront, 6 from outside the shops at the John St intersection in Newtown, was opposed by retailers, who wanted more consultation, but councillors voted against delaying works.

Cyclists have already been seen zipping past cars this week as the first changes came into effect.
