Hey there and welcome to the weMove podcast coming live from my living room and the wonders of Zoom whilst we are in this time of isolation.
So the last week or so, we have been surrounded by news, news and more news on Covid 19/Coronavirus.
I wanted to know more about what we can personally do to regain some control of our Selves whilst the news and media does its best to create increasing levels of fear, panic and hysteria.
So I made a few phone calls and extended whatsapp messages to the sources that I trust when I have questions health related, both physical and mental and in this case particularly with regards to how we can optimise our immune system and provide it with the resources to do what it needs to do.
Having knowledge that I trust from those who are at the tip of the spear in their fields gives me the opportunity to makes necessary steps forward, I trust you get something from this conversation that can be actionable and timely to support you through this defining era of the new decade.
From Chris and me, take care of yourselves and reach out to us if you have any more questions.
Peace.
This is the second part of the podcast we recoded with the NonProphet guys; Mark Twight and Michael Blevins from our trip to the US in Oct 19. Pt One is Ep 58.
Thoughts on Patrick Mckeown podcast with Chris and James
Hey there and welcome to the weMove podcast
Todays episode is the breathing equivalent of finding the last Panini football sticker for the World Cup book. It comes as no surprise if you are a regular listener that we have a keen interest in breathwork and the many methods and applications of this performance super power we all have access to.
The weMove journey literally began in the house of Wim Hof as he was the cover star for the first print issue we produced. Over the course of the journey we have become good friends with the other masters of breath from Nicola Price to Brian Mackenzie and Rob Wilson, Leo Daniel Ryan and Eddie Stern.
And today is the missing sticker. Patrick McKeown.
International best-selling author of The Oxygen Advantage and creator and master instructor of the Oxygen Advantage® technique, Patrick McKeown is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading breathing re-education experts. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or an Olympic athlete, McKeown teaches you a fast, simple, and certain way to revolutionize your sports performance and improve your daily wellbeing and health. Over the past 15 years Patrick has trained thousands of persons around the world to safely challenge their bodies and produce positive changes through breathing re-education. His technique teaches a new way to breathe, combined with specific exercises designed to improve blood chemistry. The results are an increase of oxygen flow to all of your body’s systems, meaning increased endurance, strength, and power.
And for those in London and curios for some in-person training, Patrick brings the Oxygen Advantage® workshops to the city next weekend - 6th - 8th March. Check the Oxygen Advantage® insta for more details.
Peace.
Thoughts on Nia Davies podcast with Chris and James
Hey there are welcome to the weMove podcast.
Plants are being talked about a lot, from plant based diets to the healing power of medicinal plants that there must be and is from our experience something in it, and so following on from Maribeth Helens podcast last week Chris is keeping the conversation in the plant world with a focus on CBD, the cannabis family derived extract which is gaining momentum as a super plant that can be used for pretty much anything from anxiety to sore muscles.
When we are in the US CBD is included in pretty much anything you can imagine but there are various strengths, types, flavours brands and to be honest it has been quite confusing to us and others even those selling it.
Today Chris sat with Nia Davies the founder of the Yugenial CBD brand here in London to discover her journey to the plant, her crossover from studying medicine to starting Yugenial, how it has helped her and others and what to look for in your choice.
We will be releasing more conversations along the power of plants from the mild to more wild so if you are interested keep your eyes peeled or sign up to our newsletter which we are finally ready to begin. It has only been 4 years!
Thoughts on Maribeth Helen Keane podcast with Chris and James
Welcome to this week's we move podcast.
Today's conversation marks a gentle beginning to a Discovery in our own lives that has become really important to us in an our journey to making sense of the world of physical culture and the contemporary drive for success which emphasises the importance of intensity.
And increasingly we experience the opposite when spending time with those people that we respect and admire for what they have done or are doing.
They are living with intention as opposed to living intensely and are applying a generous dose of self-care in order to nourish their physical and mental states. And this-results, in an ability to listen and feel the innate wisdom that we have within our bodies to guide us in how we live, train, move, work and be in relationship with one another.
And this conversation has come about through a chance purchase by Chris of a very simple unassuming ‘zine found in a store 12 months prior and it made a very real impact on him, so much so that he reached out to the author who is based in LA and around when we were visiting on our trip.
Maribeth Helen writes and creates tools for reconnecting with the intuitive centers that help to guide us, that help to shine a bit of light as we traverse our path through this world and find the courage to explore what is self-supporting for each of us.
These discoveries came through her own learning that we need a true support network to heal and develop our Selves and that we can't do it alone as Maribeth says we don’t need to.
Having spent nearly a decade learning from the wisdom of the plants which have become the foundation of her work in guiding our Selves back to the wisdom of our own body and intuition.
Through a platform of ‘zines, workshops, weekly newsletters Maribeth offers an invitation to come into deeper self-awareness as a path towards aligned self-healing by reconnecting with our own individual truth and how this truth is an essential thread in the collective web of healing we are weaving, together.
The conversation touches many subjects from the power of plants, the respect they are due and the respect we must have for our own Selves to allow healing and growth to flourish.
So this might bring up some ideas about the tea you drink about how you look at plants and the connection we have with the natural world while the episode connects dots from previous the previous podcasts encouraging a gentler more connected approach to developing our physical, mental and connected self and move towards a world where we live with intention rather than living in tension with ourselves and others.
Enjoy the episode, we will share links to Maribeth’s ‘zines and website and as always share the episode with those you feel it might resonate with.
Peace.
Thoughts on Troy Casey Podcast with Chris and James
Welcome to the weMove Podcast. Last week we spoke with Jill Miller about the importance of creating a safe space for the body to release and let go of the tension it holds unnecessarily.
This week we follow that up with Troy Casey aka @certifiedhealthnut who we ice bathed, and sat with in the glorious Californian sun to hear his route from hedonistic model to a being focussed on the true essence of being a healthy self, and that is to heal thy self.
Troy is a CHEK practitioner, fitness and lifestyle coach who looks the result of the protocols and practices he teaches.
Both Chris and I were unsure of what to expect when we turned up in Venice, based on his instagram account. Well looks can be deceiving and what followed was such a clear story of his progression from the party hard model to the conduit to support others on their journey to good health.
We talk health and healing protocols, plant medicines from simple herbs to the powerful and sacred Ayahuasca and equally importantly the spaces that he and his network create for both men and women to feel safe to connect with their Yin and Yang sides and release the trauma that we carry unknowingly through our lives. Chris and I are big advocates for this type of work in a personal and safe group setting because from our personal experiences so much that happens to us is a result of learned behaviours, modelled to us as we grow up, which then become distorted to the point that we are held back by our own ideas of what we saw.
If you do feel a yearning or a desire to find a group of likeminds then follow it. The positive change that comes from making those steps can seem daunting at first but they can set the tone from the day you decide onwards. Hugely worth it.
