    00:00
Look at us go, it’s a Wednesday morning and you are here on the Brekkie Club. It’s great to have you along wherever you are listening to us. It’s now time to get the Community that Matters into your ears with the Community Matters segment because it matters. It matters a lot to Councillor Pye Augustine. Good morning Councillor. Oh good morning Sparky. Alright now of course Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week are not too far around the corner but this week you want to chat about an Indigenous artist in Redbank Plains.

    00:29
Yeah, I thought, well, you know, we’ve got NAIDOC week and Reconciliation week just around the corner. I thought, yeah, so, you know, there’s going to be a lot of different functions being held. And, um, I thought, why not introduce this artist, down at Redbank Plains. Her name is Krystal Hurst. She does a lot of different indigenous artwork and in particular, she’s got a lot of different earrings. Now the earrings they’re made.

    00:57
to represent like galahs and cockatoos and kookaburras. And she’s also got, this one’s my favorite. I’ve actually bought these earrings and they’re emu earrings, just the feathers of the emu. Yeah, and so they’re very beautiful. And so I love those ones. And there’s leafs and all different sort of indigenous sort of artwork incorporated in these earrings. So.

    01:24
It’s a good time to have a look and get them if you always in particularly if you’re going to any of the The events that have been held around Ipswich, but she’s also got different artworks on prints that you can have a look at all Indigenous all that she’s done. So get onto her website. Her website is Gilawara Arts So that’s g i l l a w a r r a And have a look at all of her artwork. she does come from

    01:53
the northern beaches of New South Wales. We won’t hold that against her. But she’s up here, she’s been here for the last two years, living in Redbank Plains and really doing some really good artwork. So get on there, have a look at what she’s got. Telling you now, you won’t be disappointed. All right, so now you got the Emu earrings. You reckon you’re gonna go for another type of earring? You’re eyeing another one off?

    02:21
I’ve got the emu earrings, but I’ve also got like a leaf, like gum leaf as well that she’s carved out. And she’s, yeah, I’ve got those. I love those as well, because they drop down really nicely. So yeah, I’ll go and get a couple more as well, because they’re really great, because they’re done with things that are in nature. And that’s the premise of her artwork, is taking things from nature and be able to create it again. So yeah, she loves it.

    02:50
She’s got a real affinity with the earth. So yeah, she’s a great artist. Absolutely, go and check her out. We will put a link up on our website with the web link of where Councillor Augustine asked you to go and go and check it out and support a local Ipswich business within the Redbank Plains area. Appreciate it Councillor Augustine, we’ll chat to you next week. Look forward to it as usual.

    03:18
There you go, and that is the community’s most to you, cause community matters to Councillor Pye Augustine.

  • Ipswich Economy Booms, New Mental Health Centre Opens, and Mayor Fights for Better Transport

Every Tuesday morning as we catch up with Mayor Teresa Harding for the latest updates from Ipswich City Council. Celebrate Ipswich’s booming economy, now surpassing $13 billion in gross regional product, and learn about the new Ipswich Medicare Mental Health Centre offering free mental health support. Mayor Harding discusses ongoing advocacy for better public transport and infrastructure, recent community feedback on council services, and her efforts to ensure the mayor chairs the local disaster management group.

    00:00
It is a Tuesday here on the Breakkie show and it is time for us to catch up with Mayor Teresa Harding and find out how the week in council has been going. Good morning, Teresa. Good morning, Damo. Good morning to all the listeners. It is good to talk to you. Well, there’s good news for the Ipswich economy. It smashed through the 13 billion mark for the first time, according to the latest data. Yes, so the second successive year, our city’s gross regional product.

    00:26
which measures the value of goods and services, has risen sharply. So to see it hit the $3 billion mark is really incredible. And it’s quite almost a $2 billion increase in over the last two years. So look, it’s great to see that this is happening. We are growing and businesses are growing and more businesses are coming to Ipswich. Which is fantastic news. And of course we are seeing a lot of growth in healthcare and social assistance as well. And lots of different areas of the community too.

    00:54
It is and these latest economic figures show that Council’s ongoing advocacy for more public transport for that if central or Springfield central train line and transport really needs to happen so people can move around so they can get to work or their business or to study. And I do know that you attended the Council of Mayors and the Local Government Association and

    01:18
We’re advocating very hard for transport infrastructure and also things like the odor issue and all those sorts of things. Last week, the Southeast Queensland mayors went to Queensland Parliament. And we spoke with many of the cabinet ministers and shadow ministers, especially with the election coming up in a few months time, it was really important. But obviously, transport infrastructure, Southeast Queensland is growing so quickly. The transport infrastructure is not keeping up. So certainly for Ipswich, we spoke a lot about the fact that

    01:48
which is the sixth largest council in Queensland by population, yet from the Department of Transport and Main Roads we only rank 19 when it comes to the level of funding that we get for our population. So it’s very disproportionate and we also had a reduction in bus services as well. So it’s really important that we have better public transport and better transport infrastructure. Yeah it certainly is and of course as we look at we mentioned the health sector in its growth.

    02:15
We just saw a new health centre open in Nicholas Street. It’s really great, a brand new service and it’s called the Ipswich Medicare Mental Health Centre. That’s a bit of a mouthful but it’s a free mental health care and support for residents. So it’s free, you can make appointments, you can drop in, they’ll be able to provide this is for adults, they can access free mental health information, services.

    02:41
They can also coordinate support and referral elsewhere. It’s open Monday to Fridays at the moment. It’s just above the dumpling place. I think it’s gonna be a really good resource for people. You don’t have to sort of make a time to see your GP and have a mental health plan. It’s an ability to drop in there, have a chat, see some professionals and seek support. And I’m really pleased that this has come to Ipswich.

    03:06
And of course with that new centre now in Nicholas Street, meaning more foot traffic going through, you know, the area for local business too. Yeah, more foot traffic. You know, we’ll be handing over the, you know, practical completion or the two hosts to do their fit out very soon and same with Hotel Commonwealth. So it’s exciting times. Yes, I did see that. And you and Marnie Doyle in the high vis, it looked very fetching, let me tell you.

    03:33
Customer service, a priority. Last week, council held a customer service community panel. What was the outcomes of that? Yes, we started a process a couple of years ago in how to improve customer service and the customer experience for people when they ring council, contact council, or how council does services. So we’ve made many changes, and this was a time to get in touch with the community panel, let them know we were at, but also to receive feedback on how they’d like to contact council.

    04:02
how they would like council to operate and provide services. So really thank the people of Ipswich who came forward and provided that information to us. Fantastic. And that’s what it’s all about, is getting that feedback from the community and then implementing those ideas, isn’t it? Absolutely. That’s our job. That’s what people pay their rates and their charges for. So it’s really important to know that what we’re doing well and make sure we maintain and what we can improve on. Now, there’s a few panels that the council engages with. So if people listening,

    04:31
would like to join one of those, they could just contact council I guess. They can. We also if you go to shap and look for community panels and you will see that you just log in there and there’s a wide variety of them from governance to economic development to sport to resource recovery. There’s a whole range there and every time we have a policy or a strategy that council’s looking at we always sort of touch base with those groups to see what’s happening. One thing we did the end of last year for instance will be.

    05:00
building a new resource recovery centre or a new big tip with an animal pound out at Red Bank Plains new chum area. So we actually offered it up to all the members of that resource recovery panel to go on a bit of a bus trip and we took them around there took them around the site so they could give us feedback on the plans that we were doing. So it’s really important we do get that feedback from residents. Yeah before we let you go I know last Thursday was a tough day you brought forward a mayoral minute.

    05:27
in response to community feedback over the chair of the local disaster management group. That was defeated. Once again, as I said, a tough day. Look, we had a that’s about longest council meeting we ever had. It went for over six hours and we went through we got through over 30 items there. One of them was my mayoral minutes that I brought forward.

    05:47
The community have been very firm with me and they would like to see that during a disaster that their mayor is in charge of the local disaster management group. So I put forward a mayoral motion to make sure that the mayor would always be chairing of the local disaster management group. It was unsuccessful for a second time. It was democratically elected. But I guess what really upset residents was the fact that not only do they expect their mayor to be there to do that, but there was no reasons given.

    06:17
So it’s quite, I think the community feel very frustrated and confused as to what the reasons are. Yeah, and that was defeated six to three, wasn’t it? It was, it was. And certainly some of the community think it was politically motivated. You know, I have written to the Minister, Nikki Boyd, who’s the Minister for Emergency Management, and I’ve written to her asking her to change the, for her to consider changing the Disaster Management Regulations, Section 10.

    06:45
to remove the politics from these type of decisions to having that regulation that the mayor or their delegate is the chair of the local disaster management group. Yeah, well, good luck with that fight and we wish you all the very best. Thank you so much for joining us this morning and we’ll catch up again next week. Thanks so much, see you next week. There we go, Mayor Teresa Harding, joining us there.

    • Division 2 Updates with Deputy Mayor Nicole Jonic

Join us this Friday morning as we chat with Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic. Get the latest updates on the Goodna Aquatic Centre’s temporary closure for repairs, ongoing nightworks on the Centenary Motorway Exit 32 off-ramp, and the Springfield Parkway upgrades. Plus, don’t miss the excitement of the Festival of Horsepower, including the Ipswich Cup and Queensland Kart Championships. Tune in for all this and more!

      00:00
It’s a Friday morning heading into a wonderful weekend but before we get there we’ve got to find out what’s been happening in your division and today we are going to Division 2 and joining us on the line the Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic, good morning.

      00:16
Good morning, how are you? I am very well, it is good to talk to you. I did notice you out and about at the show, but we’ll talk about that at the end. But first of all, we’ve got to say anyone who is keen on using the Goodner Aquatic Centre, there’s been a bit of a closure there at the moment. Yeah, so some repairs are happening at the Goodner Aquatic Centre to the pool. It’s an expansion joint. Can you tell me what that is, Damien? No, I have no idea.

      00:44
But I’m assuming it’s like a concrete thing, image you give me Bob, that needs attending to. So yes, there is some closure there, but we have other public pools. So we’ve got the Bundamba Swim Centre, the Georgie Conway Leichhardt Swim Centre, and obviously Orion Lagoon. They’ll all be open during the period when the Goodner Pool’s under repair. Fantastic. So still options there, but it’s getting a bit cool for swimming these days, isn’t it? I know, that’s why they tend to, look, I’m not an engineer.

      01:11
but I’m pretty sure they tend to do these repairs in the cooler months. Yeah, alright. If you want further information and updates for other projects in Div 2, then all you have to do is jump on the Council’s interactive civic maps at ipswitch.qld.gov.au. Now, of course, there is some roadworks happening as well. Nightworks on the Centenary Motorway Exit 32 off-ramp. Yes, so the nightworks are continuing to get the Exit 30…

      01:39
to off-ramp will be affected and it’s going to be extended into next week. So I know people don’t like roadworks right but people don’t like congested roads either so we’ve got to do these things so then we get better roads. So it’s a short-term pain for long-term gain but there’ll be traffic control and controllers there that will direct the traffic in place.

      02:04
And this upgrade, the Springfield Parkway, Springfield Green Bank arterial is the biggest in council’s history by the way. That’s why it had to get broken up into three different pieces. And it’s not just us that need to do works, it’s all the underground works and stuff too, that I didn’t actually realise before I become a councillor. But there’s like 13 underground services that they need to move and fix and manoeuvre. So…

      02:28
when people are like there’s no one there doing anything but usually it’s because it’s a lot of it’s water mains, it’s internet, it’s power but the info for those updates as well can be found in that interactive mapping too that you just listed before Damo there’ll be links there for this information. Yep all right fantastic and of course there is some other works there’s selective vegetation clearing within the Springfield Parkway road reserve towards stage one of the

      02:58
Spri arterial intersection that’s taking place. It should be about up to eight weeks, yeah? Yeah, so at this stage we’re looking at eight weeks, the timing of that clearing. That’s weather permitting of course, so you know, but strict environmental controls are in place for that work, so there should be minimal impacts to traffic I guess during those works.

      03:18
Yeah, I think so. We’re trying to make sure that the impact to road users and residents is kept to an absolute minimum. There’s also a council project for bus stop upgrades that are happening to existing bus stops along Lakeside Avenue and Springfield Lakes. Yep. So that work is getting undertaken so that it improves the usability of these bus stops for the accessibility for people with disability.

      03:44
Yeah, all right, fantastic. Now, as we know, and we reported on a little bit earlier this month, the rebel domain zero depth water play area with the fantastic tipping bucket is closed to do some flooding repairs. Yeah. So the zero depth water play area, which is where the tipping bucket is, you know, your favourite demo. Oh, I know. There’s just some work that has to be done to rectify the.

      04:12
damage sustained during the the flooding flash flooding so a lot of water come through Redbell domain because that’s a natural creek line and the plant room contains a dosing equipment and that kind of got inundated so they need to repair that. So that’s a quite a big repair job and work is expected to be finished in early September.

      04:35
There was so much going on in that area, isn’t there? Look, I really encourage people to go onto that. It’s switch.qld.gov.au to follow those interactive civic maps because they kind of list out things that are happening now projects and things that are happening, going to be happening in the near future. And a lot of these things, when residents are actually impacted, the council engagement offices do actually reach out and send notices and things like that as well, but that website’s always handy.

      05:02
Fantastic. Now, of course, we do have the Festival of Horsepower coming up, and I know you are going to be front and center. so your a Rev Head all right, good. Yeah, yeah, no, it’s going to be fantastic. So we’ve got obviously the, I’ll just call it the winter nats, right? Oh, the winter gnats, yep, yep. Yeah, so the winter gnats are coming up and I’m, you know, I always love to go out and see the winter gnats. Yes. And that’s part of that Festival of Force Power as well, because you’ve got the Ipswich Cup in there and all of these events put Ipswich on the map.

      05:51
You’ve got like from one horsepower thing in a jig to the next really. And for the very first time this time around the Queensland Kart Championships as well. Yeah. So look, these things just get, keep getting better and better. Like our planes, trains and autos festival that just finished up a few weeks ago. Um, you know, there’s, you know, we’re always moving things into these event spaces new to make them new and interesting.

      06:17
Yes. Not me personally, obviously the great events team and it’s Switch City Council. And so, you know, you never going to go and get the same thing with these events. Like they’re always just getting better and improving. And it’s, it’s really exciting and bring on good weather. Exactly. We don’t want rain for the drags. No, no, we don’t. And there’s one thing I want to see during the two days of thunder, I want to see in a classic touring car, you.

      06:46
against Dave, Councillor Dave Cullen. Oh, cool. And I want to see ratio demo. I’m going to win. And I want to see you take on Willowbank Raceway. Yeah, I’m down. I’m down. All right. I’ll put the challenge out there. So let’s see if Councillor Cullen takes up the option. I, you know, he’s a cheater though, right? Oh, is he? Yeah, he’s cheeky. He’s really, really cheeky. He like swaps out drivers and carts.

      07:15
Etc, etc. So we’re going to have to do some scrutineering prior to the race, but line that up. I think we just screw the door shut and then he can’t get out. I like that too. Yeah, ipsw is where you can find out all those details. Always great to chat to you, Nick, and you have a wonderful weekend and I hope it’s a

      07:40
Yeah, thanks for your time, We’ll catch up soon. Thanks so much. There we go, Deputy Mayor and Division Two Councillor Nicole Jonic we’ll take a break. Come back with more in a moment.

      00:00
Good morning Damo and good morning Alexis. Good morning.

      00:27
All right. I’m excited Lex, let me tell you, cause I want to get to Line Line Cinemas and see Furiosa, Mad Max Saga. Oh, absolutely. Now we have just seen the stars from Furiosa in Australia with Chris Hemsworth, Anya Taylor-Joy, and of course George Miller gracing us with their presence in Sydney for some of the first screenings of this movie. Now this was actually shot in…

      00:54
Australia in the outback of New South Wales. So in a town of Hay and also Silverton. Hey, hey, yeah. Hey, you. Which Silverton’s actually considered a ghost town with their total population of 48 people. It’s fun. Everyone would know everyone. Absolutely. It just, we would just feel like your family.

      01:17
So they shot this in Australia, which we always find exciting. You know, this film is very Australian. You listen to the accents. From the shots that we see in the trailer, very vast, dry, outback style scenes. So the film is currently sitting at 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and it’s a prequel slash spin-off?

      01:45
of 2015’s Mad Max Fury Road. And it’s gonna highlight Furiosa’s origin story of her being taken from her family as she puts together, puts together the means of finding her way home. Now, this movie was so well received at the Cannes Film Festival this week that it received an eight minute standing ovation. Wow. Incredible. Wow. Absolutely incredible. That’s huge. Yeah, so bring on the Aussies. I love.

      02:14
any of our movies that we can really drive home that great Aussie. I’m not going to say Aussie culture because I feel like Mad Max is not the movie that you want to compare to Australian culture, but listening to the great Australian talent and accents of our people. Well, it’s going to be great. And I hear the cinematography for this movie is absolutely tremendous.

      02:43
Oh, for sure. We put in these two, our two new lasers into our XD cinemas and my favourite trailer to watch when we were doing testing was Furiosa because the scenes are just phenomenal on those screens. It is so bright and crisp that you are just simply blown away. Now I was speaking to my boss today about actually the release of Furiosa and he said, you’ve got to have this one. Crank the sound, it’s high impact.

      03:10
You’ve got to just see it on the biggest screen with the sound cranked right up, sit back and relax and enjoy this one because it is an absolute ride. Yep, fantastic. It’s George Miller’s Furiosa, a mad max saga. Fury is Born starring Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy hitting the big screens this week at Limelight Cinemas. The other one I was looking forward to seeing too and this shows my kids side.

      03:39
is the Garfield movie. Do you know what, Damo? You are more than welcome to show your kids side. We’ve just seen, we’ve seen IF, just a slightly sidetracked, but we’ve seen IF release this week. And I have seen more adults in that movie than I have children. And I’m so glad because that movie was made for us even more so than the kids. I think it is more for us to…

      04:05
remind us to be kids again, to remind us to use some imagination sometimes and to sit back and actually be a kid again. So you know what? I love these kids movies that also engage families, both young and young at heart. Those who, you know, I know so many adults are so excited about Garfield. I know I am and I swear sometimes I probably use my seven year olds as an excuse to go and see kids movies. But they’re great. You just go out there and enjoy yourself, Alexis. Be you.

      04:34
For sure. Honestly, I’ve seen F twice already. Don’t think for me. It’s not even been out a week. It’s been out a week today and I’ve seen it twice. So I loved it. Honestly, every parent, every adult, everyone who needs that gentle reminder that they need to be a kid again, take some tissues if you’re an adult because you definitely feel the themes of that movie more than children do. It’ll probably go straight over their head, but for us big kids.

      05:02
It’s definitely a reminder of, you know, being kids again. Um, and I think Garfield is also going to see a similar audience. Like it’s going to see our families for sure, but also adults who have grown up with Garfield. Now there is, um, Garfield is being voiced by Chris Pratt, which we obviously saw as the fabulous Super Mario last year. And he is joined by Samuel L. Jackson as Vic, his dad, which is kind of fun.

      05:28
Yeah. Now he is of course our favourite feline. He is the world famous Monday hating, lasagna loving, indoor cat that is embarking on an outdoor journey, much to his disgust. That this adventure is gonna put the pow in meow. The pow in meow. Oh, fantastic. I love it. Now Garfield’s left on the doorstep of course of his unsuspecting human John.

      05:56
who is definitely unsuspecting when he puts an entire pizza in front of him and he consumes it in about 0.3 seconds flat. So he does absolutely love his pizzas, linden lasagnas and all of that good food. But it wouldn’t be Garfield, of course, without his canine friend, Odie, who is also joining him in the Garfield movie as well. And they are roped into a high stakes heist with Garfield’s dad, Vic, who are they?

      06:24
who he is reunited with in this movie. So lots of fun for the family, lots of fun for us as adults who have grown up with this and we do have a special charity screening for this movie this weekend. Fantastic, look forward to seeing that Garfield. On the big screen now of course we do have presales going for a couple of big blockbusters coming over the next month or two. The first one of course Deadpool and Wolverine.

      06:51
Oh my gosh, this went on sale at midnight on Monday. Now we get these beautiful emails from Disney going, you’re going on sale on Monday night, but also don’t tell anyone. We’re not allowed to tell anyone. So very excitingly, we are finally on sale for Deadpool and Wolverine. Now this releases 25th of July, but we do have advanced screenings the night before from 6pm. They are basically almost every half hour. We’ve gone hard at this one.

      07:18
And it’s going to be massive. I can’t say anything about it. I’m strictly under embargo. I’m just really, really, really excited for this movie. So this is releasing 25th of July and on sale with our advanced screenings from the 24th of July, XD and Lounge. Remembering our XD cinemas have two beautiful new laser projectors, so that is the place to see Deadpool and Wolverine. And we also have

      07:45
Bad Boys Ride or Die, which is also releasing in June. Our tickets are on sale for that. And then for the kiddies, right in time for the school holidays, we will see Inside Out 2, which tickets are on sale now. And Despicable Me 4 goes on sale from tomorrow. So we’ve basically got the major blockbuster releases, minus a couple. We’ve got A Quiet Place Day 1 that still needs to make its appearance. And now our tickets on sale, but.

      00:00
It is that time on a Wednesday morning, we need to do the community that matters to you because community matters to Pye Augustine and we’re getting all efficient this morning and she joins me on the line. Do you feel efficient this morning, Pi? Oh, I do. That’s why I’m here to show my efficiency and tell you all about it.

      00:22
Oh, love it. Now, these are actually the Energy Efficient Kits, which you can get from Ipswich Libraries. Yeah, I came across them and I thought, what a great tool to be able to save. You know, when cost of living is, the pressure is on at the moment, and why not just try anything to try and save a dollar or two here or there? So, Council have got this kit that you can…

      00:46
used to find out exactly where the deficiencies in your household is. So you can measure the water flow, they’ve got a cup, they’ve got thermometers, energy meters. The toolkit comes with all the equipment and the instructions to help you identify the issues that might be affecting the efficiency of your energy in your home. So

      01:12
You know, that should be good. You know, try to save a dollar or two here or there. So you need to book it because they’re in, they’re in high demand sparky. Yeah. I believe there’s even a waitlist. Councils only have 10 kits. So you’ve got to place your reservation and once one becomes available, they’ll contact you and get one out to you. So it comes in a great big pack. The instructions are there. Let’s start reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and save some money. Absolutely. And.

      01:42
We’ve been talking a dollar or two, but in the long run, I mean, a dollar or two can add up to a massive saving, can’t it? Oh, definitely. And everyone’s trying to, you know, say that dollar or two, because you need that dollar or two somewhere else, Sparky, let me tell you. Yeah, absolutely. We’re all feeling the punch and Ipswich libraries have got you covered. So so how can we register to get on the waiting list? So you can go into council’s website and then the Ipswich libraries tag.

      02:08
Go on to there and then you’ll see along the Ipswich Libraries tag, you’ll see the Efficiency tool. You click on it, then there’s a link, register, you’re good to go. Fantastic. Alright, more Community Matters next week with Councillor Pye Augustine. We’ll chat to you then. See you then.

    • Conquering Diet Challenges: Loz’s Tips for Staying on Track During the 12-Week Fitness Journey

Tune in to the Brekkie Club for our latest “Living Life with Loz” segment! This Tuesday, Loz and David discuss the ups and downs of sticking to a 12-week fitness challenge, navigating diet pitfalls at the Ipswich Show, and practical tips for easy meal prepping. Get inspired and join the journey towards a healthier lifestyle!

      00:00
It’s a Tuesday morning, you’re right here on the Brekkie Club online and also on the free Westbrimmer radio app. It’s time now to do a check in with our 12 week challenge and we live life with Loz. Good morning Loz. It’s big times isn’t it? Hurrah! Yeah I’m excited and coming off the back of Yip Switch show there may have been a couple of hard truths, there may have been, I don’t know, some fairy floss, some fudge, maybe even a Dagwood dog involved. Yeah more!

      00:29
I’m gonna sit down for this one. Well, no, listen, so we started okay. So Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday was alright. We did all the meals that we were supposed to do and then that was fine. Thursday night, everything fell off the bandwagon because I went to go do bump in and bits and pieces there for the Ipswich show. Then we spent the entire weekend out at the Ipswich show.

      00:58
and it fell apart from there. So you prepped all your food and then you went to the Ipsies show and so wasn’t the point of prepping the food so that you had food at Ipsies show? Well, so we didn’t actually prep all the food. So we didn’t get a chance to prep all the food. Okay, but you prepped most of it, which was great. Yeah, yeah, well that’s what I thought and so that’s my win. So how’d you go with Adrian?

      01:24
Yeah, Damo, what did Adrian say about that? Um, Adrian and I have an understanding, and I’m very appreciative of the support that he gives me. He told me to do a couple of laps around the lounge room. He was impressed that I left the potato chips alone this week and didn’t touch one single bag of them. And he was also impressed that when I was out at the… Yeah, thank you. And also, he was impressed that out in the show, I didn’t have, like…

      01:54
another person we will not mention who had two Dagwood dogs. I had a steak sandwich. We won’t mention about this person, but let’s mention this person. That was a very political answer. You should get into politics. That’s a great, very matter of fact. Stick with the radio. I hosted the forums for the Ipswich Council election. That was enough. That’s as close as I want to get. That’s as close to politics as you’re getting. So what can we learn from this?

      02:23
Experienced person that we won’t know Well, we can definitely learn to prep our food which is going to be an issue this week because it’s already Monday No preps been done. So we’re already behind the eight ball, but I have said to Adrian and I’ve set myself a goal. We are going to do it at least once this week, you know We’re not going to fall off the bandwagon. We’re not gonna you know, we’re actually going to do it once properly You say you can do it a couple of times a week. So

      02:52
If prepping an entire week’s worth of food, a good job for a couple of blokes, then break it up into manageable things. So we have some people that they are absolutely frightened of meal prep. The whole idea makes them run for the hills. I mean, and if they ran for the hills, that would be okay. I think it’s a step counter. But also- Good point. But also meal prepping, it’s about having the things in your house that you think could be useful. So-

      03:20
A meal prep could be as simple as night before work, you grab a container, you’ve already bought the things that you need, you’ve kind of put that with that with that and then you’ve got yourself something ready. So example, making yourself a wrap for lunch. Wraps are okay, like if we’re to talk about the scale of one to ten, obviously it’s within sort of within the framework but not quite. Having a wrap.

      03:43
is better than having a dog with dog, would you agree? Yes. I would, yes. In the moment, in the moment, okay, well what would be the harm minimization strategy I can apply? Grab yourself like some really nice low carb wraps, even gluten free ones, if that’s what you like, and having some things like tomatoes, spinach, carrots, if you needed to, onion, capsicum, and then making sure you got your protein. So go buy what I call the bachelor’s handbag. They’re the pre-cooked.

      04:12
from Woolies because you only see bachelors walking out the door.

      04:19
So get yourself a couple of bachelor handbags. And it’s good, eh? It’s good. You’ll never unknow that now. Grab yourself a couple of bachelor handbags or mullies or coles, whatever your preference is. And then you set, you don’t have to do any cooking. Your meal prep’s done. Yeah, sure, it might cost you a little bit more, but it’s convenient. And you put a bunch of chook on there, you know, 120 grams of chicken and you know, ready to rock and roll.

      04:47
Can you see how like that doesn’t take a lot of prep? Absolutely not. You can even batch make those. So I’ve had some clients make wraps in a row because they might eat too wrapped. So someone like Damo might need to eat too wrapped, you know, to keep himself feeling not hungry. So you know, if you made a few extra ones, then at least you’ve got two there for lunch and you know you’ve got your lunch time and it’s really healthy. See how much easier that is than thinking, oh my gosh, I’m going to do a whole week of meal prep.

      05:15
I don’t meal prep. I have the food in my fridge that I know I’m going to need. Like for breakfast, if you don’t mind me sharing because it’s really easy. I buy the pouches of egg whites and I have eggs. So what I’ll do is in a bowl and a bit of egg white, mix it up in a bowl like make it all frothy and then cook that in the pan. I chuck in spinach, I chuck in onion, I chuck in tomatoes, maybe capsicum if I’ve got some, sometimes mushrooms, really low carb. And I do like an omelette. For lunch, I’ll grab…

      05:45
making sure like I’ve got like a good tin of tuna, I might chuck some dressing through it that I know is gonna be really nice. So like if I’ve got the tuna with olive oil, I might stick some herbs in it and I’ll mix that in through with some leftover dinner maybe. So tuna with vegetables, so I might even do myself up some green Chinese veggies like some bok choy, some bok choy and some mushy and some onion and just chuck that in there. So I’ve got like some tuna

      06:14
because I don’t really know what you call that. And then for dinner, I might have myself some mince, some tomato sauce that goes through it, like a pasta sauce, and chuck in all my veggies into that. So, you know, it’s still having the same healthy food. I’m not having to go buy extra, extra veggies. You know what I mean? Like it’s the same veggie pretty much throughout the day. Some are cooked, some are raw. So.

      06:40
And then in between I’ll have some protein snacks. So I might have a protein bar, might have like a protein shake. I might have a protein water, I might have a protein coffee. So I always have five hits of protein throughout the day. And see how simple that was? And there is a couple of prep involved in that. And I might make up a batch of that mint. And I might even have mints for breakfast. Fantastic, all right. Well, you’ve given me some ideas and some inspiration.

      07:07
At least and if anyone else wants to come on this crazy journey with us, how can they do that laws? calm forward slash weight laws w e i g h t Hello, Zed the laws as in Lauren or farming socials at laws and to Nenco Say it and spell it the same way and I’ve got lots of information there You can sign up you can join in keeps the fun right value Excellent coaching and the outcome that you want. • The Week In Council – Mayor Teresa Harding – 21052024

In this episode of the Breckie Club on West Bremer Radio, join Damo as he sits down with Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding for an insightful conversation. They kick off by celebrating the success of the 151st Ipswich Show, where Mayor Harding shares her experiences and highlights the community spirit with over 400 volunteers making it all possible. VIP guests, including Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers and other prominent politicians, also made appearances, underscoring the event’s significance.

Mayor Harding discusses the Queensland Government’s move to seek community feedback on new regulations for compost facilities, aimed at minimizing odour impacts. This initiative follows persistent advocacy from the Council and community frustration over the noxious odours.

They also preview the upcoming Festival of Horsepower in June, packed with adrenaline-filled events like the Winter Nationals, Ipswich Cup, and the Queensland Kart Championships. Mayor Harding encourages the community to get involved and enjoy the festivities.

Finally, they touch on the Voluntary Home Buyback Program, marking the start of demolitions for flood-affected properties in Goodna, and celebrate a local grant awarded to the South Brisbane Chargers remote control car club.

Tune in for an engaging discussion on community efforts, upcoming events, and how the Council is working to improve life in Ipswich. Don’t miss out—get all the details in this episode!

      00:00
It is a Tuesday morning here on the Breckie Club. And of course you’re listening on West streaming live on the app and also on Amazon Alexa and Google Smart Home speakers. Well, the show is done and dusted for 2024. The 151st show was a huge success. Lots of people coming through the gates and someone who had their own personal turnstile there was the Mayor, Teresa Harding. Good morning. How are you, Teresa? Morning, David. It was lovely to see you there.

      00:28
each of the three days, it was a beautiful weekend. Yeah, it certainly was and as we said, so many people and of course, we had some VIPs coming through too, didn’t we? Yeah, we did. Apart from the show society president, Darren Zarno, who’s also our state MP, we also had on Sunday, the Federal Treasurer, Jim Chalmers came in, Minister Murray Watt, who’s the Minister for

      00:49
Agricultural fisheries and emergency management came on the at the opening as well as Java Christopher the opposition leader was there Saturday as well So yeah, it’s good to see and I obviously we always trying to pitch to get funding in our area so it was a great opportunity for that to showcase if switch meet these rich people and and Hit them up for some money. Well, hopefully they liked us and they’ll go away and start working on those budgets What do you reckon? That’s right. Absolutely Well, congratulations to all of the team and of course

      01:17
Being Volunteers Week to all of the volunteers who make it happen, they did a sterling job too, didn’t they? They did, and the show actually had over 400 volunteers, just incredible. Just, you know, everyone has just got a great spirit, and it’s not just shows, it’s a lot of volunteers, like at the Ipswich Hospital Foundation, they were looking after gate five and the information booths. You know, so, you know, just all around the place, so many community groups came together to be part of that huge,

      01:46
Ipswich show experience and I think our community is very grateful for it and really appreciative. And you know what, I met so many wonderful people. I met the lady and her family who used to run the open air skating rink in Ipswich. And it used to be down near the IGA there at West Ipswich and it got flooded out. And when they couldn’t get it all back together, all of the animals that they had there at the skating rink, they had snakes and everything, were all sold off to the Ipswich Show Society.

      02:16
So there you go, that’s back in the day. Lots of stories at the show. There certainly is. All right, lots of stories we need to talk about too. And of course, the Queensland Government is now seeking community feedback on proposed stronger regulations requiring compost facilities to minimise odour impacts. This is a godsend for people in those suburbs struggling. Yeah, really happy. The Queensland Government have opened up for community feedback and consultation.

      02:44
They’re proposing regulations that will include, given the regulator, the power to require composting facilities that are close to residential places to enclose or invest all their operations if they’re receiving odorous waste. I really encourage our community to participate. I spoke with the Minister for the Environment, Leon Linnard, back in September last year when I met with her suggesting this and our council wrote to her asking for this to happen. So look, that consultation is now open until the 14th of June. So I do encourage you to go on there.

      03:14
and do that. It’s a really important step to making sure that we can get rid of these odours in Ipswich. And of course I know that Council has been advocating for this for quite some time, quite strongly and the many, many months and years residents have had to endure the stench of those waste odours. You know, we just need to find that solution now, don’t we? We do. It’s beyond the joke and you know, this Council last four years has had a very strong stance.

      03:43
We have spent over $8 million on legal fees to stop expanding landfill, but the noxious odors and the stink is, is dreadful. And also the state government won’t do a public health inquiry. So look, it’s really important that the community give their feedback. I certainly will be and certainly be, and I will certainly be fighting to make sure that any of the composting facilities that have noxious odors are in vessel and in vessel or encased in a concrete structure.

      04:11
or a hard structure, not just with textiles or a Gore-Tex. It needs to be a proper structure. Yes, certainly does. All right, that is good news on that front. Now something else that we can look forward to, just after the show, we’ve now got the big Festival of Horsepower. Well, I know everyone’s sad that the show’s over, but we’ve got something to put a smile on everyone’s dial. June is our Festival of Horsepower month. So we’ve got a number of adrenaline packed events that are on. We have…

      04:39
the Gulf Western Oil Winter Nets on the 6th to the 9th of June. We have the TAB Ipswich Cup on the 22nd of June. We have the Western Star Feature Race Day on the 23rd of June. And a new one for this. We have the Queensland Kart Championships on the 28th to the 30th of June, as well as the Two Days of Thunder on the 29th to the 30th of June. So what’s happening? There certainly is. And of course, you can cruise the night as well. There’s the V8 Drift Experience. So

      05:08
really is a lot to see and do and of course you can get behind all of those events, jump onto ipsw for all the information and get yourself booked in to go and see some of these great events for the Festival of Horsepower and before we let you go, one more little thing that we need to have a little look at and this is of course in some more good news for us the Voluntary Home Buyback Program, we saw the start of demolition

      05:37
Yeah, so the voluntary home buyback program for people who were severely flooded. We’ve had our very first block of units or townhouses, it’s a strata title. So this is where in Mill Street in Goodna where all 20 homeowners had to agree otherwise it wouldn’t proceed. And they did all agree to that. So they’ve all had their townhouses bought back and the demolitions started last week. So that gives hope to 20 families. So it was really great to see that happen.

      06:05
And of course, this is all part of that $741 million Resilient Homes Fund. And it’s good to see that money going to some good use. It is. And look, I guess these 20 units are just some of the 163 properties that have been bought back in the program. About 50 hectares of land have been bought back. And we expect to buy back about 300 homes courtesy of the Australian and the Queensland government’s program.

      06:31
Yeah and it’s great too because I mean obviously to say people the hardship are going through further floods those land spaces will be turned into green space for the community. Yes look they’re being rezoned so you can’t build a dwelling there and you can’t build structures there so look some of them to me are pretty obvious like at Mill Street I love to see Western Spirit grounds get there we’d love great to have a few more soccer fields there as well but we’ll work with the community we’re going to be doing community consultation in a couple of months.

      06:58
on what people want there. There’s quite a bit of green space that we do need to maintain there. So let’s get the best use out of it. Exactly. All right, before we let you go to congratulations to South Brisbane Chargers, the remote control car club picking up a grant. Oh, that’s fantastic. Isn’t it? It is, isn’t it? I think it’s- I’ll just encourage you just to put a grant in application. We’d love to, you know, we want to help our community groups. And so there’s-

      07:21
quite a few grants that community groups can apply for. Yes, and I know that they just need to contact Council through the Council Call Centre and they can get information on any of those grants that are available to you, can’t they? They can, and we also run classes for community groups, master classes on attracting, you know, and volunteers fundraising, the constitution. So they’re really great courses for community groups who want to really get stronger. Exactly.

      07:49
Thank you so much for joining us and you know talking through a number of issues. Well done on the show. I know also you were there part of Rotary in there selling beautiful strawberry sundaes. They’re very popular. We sold a lot, especially on Saturday. We sold a lot on Saturday. And on Sunday, because you came to see us and then we went off and bought them all. I did. Thank you for supporting local. I must have popped in to see you guys on Sunday afternoon.

      08:13
At Sparkey came through with a few morale boosting strawberry sundaes. I think they were very much needed at that point in the afternoon. Let me tell you. Thank you so much, Theresa. Have a wonderful week. Thanks, Damo. There we go. Mayor Teresa Harding joining us to take a little look at what’s been happening in Ipswich in the past week. We’ll take a break. Come back with more in a moment.

      00:00
It is a Tuesday morning here on the Breckie show. And of course, you are listening to us on West streaming live on the app and also on Amazon Alexa and Google smart speakers. Time to have a little look and see what’s been happening in council. And we do that each and every Tuesday morning with Mayor Theresa Harding. Good morning. Good morning, Daman. Good morning to all the listeners. First of all, I’ve got to say, how was the burger that you had with Councillor Dave Cullen at the Marburg show?

      00:29
When you go to the Marburg show or any of the lot of events in Marburg, you have to have a Marburger from the Marburg School PNC. It is a burger with the work. And so I think it’s about 2.30 in the afternoon, which is quite good because I think it has to be a late lunch if you’re having it. It’s a huge meal. It certainly is, but you both look like you were very happy consuming it. Yes. Yes, definitely. I had tomato sauce on mine.

      00:58
salad, it was lovely. Sounds very nice, well of course you’re gonna have to back it up now and show just how good you can be at the 151st Ipi show which is on this weekend. Yeah we’re very lucky this 151st Ipswich show is on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Council’s really proud to sponsor the Ipswich show and I was just then at recently too that I’m opening the show so it’s a real pleasure. It’s a fantastic show, it’s just getting bigger and bigger. I’ve had a sneak peek at

      01:28
Bluey is going to be there but the pavilions and the exhibitions all around the circuit there is just huge, it’s going to be absolutely fantastic. And of course more than 36,000 people are expected to attend so once again bumper crowds. Huge crowds, look the Friday Night Road Day is really really popular so that’s always big and then Bluey will be there as well as the sideshow alley and it’s just really fantastic as well as

      01:57
there’ll be a dedicated animal precinct and a heritage precinct will return as well which first came along last year at the 150th celebration. Yeah and what’s your favourite ride in Sideshow Alley? Oh. Now there was a probing question you weren’t expecting. No I didn’t go, Steve went on the beast last time and I didn’t, I was meant to go on it and I didn’t go on it so this time I’ll say the beast. I’m going to go on the beast.

      02:23
there this time. Okay we’re gonna come and document it for the people of Ipswich don’t you worry. Now also after the Ippy show of course we’ve got the last of the show cycle but definitely not the least and that is of course the Rosewood show. Yeah we have three shows in Ipswich so Marbleg was last weekend and Ipswich this weekend and that last weekend of June is the Rosewood show they have a fantastic bull riding night on the Friday night and the show

      02:49
you know on the Friday and Saturday, it’s a fantastic country show and I encourage people to attend them, they’re really great fun. Yeah they certainly are and of course look out for West Burma Radio, we’ll be broadcasting all three days of the Ipi show and we’ll be in the, which pavilion is it? The Grandstand pavilion, thank you, I was getting a prompt call. You’ve got the best posi. I know.

      03:18
just near where the best chips are. I’ve got it all sussed out don’t you worry about that. Right. Alrighty now something a little bit different in the Ipswich libraries are of course certainly proving their popularity with the people aren’t they? Yeah we’ve put a lot of work into the library so we’re quite fortunate to get state government funding as well so we’ll be watching our annual survey as well just yesterday.

      03:46
Our libraries include the Eastwood Central Library, the Children’s Library in Tumul Place, the Springfield Central Library, the Redbeck Plaza Library, the Redbeck Plains Library, the Rosewood Library, the Carolee Library Pod as well as our virtual branch. So if people let us know how they’re using the libraries, what they like, what they don’t like, the programming, it allows us to shape our future services and programs. Yeah and of course it’s not just like I guess the libraries that you and I grew up with. I mean these have…

      04:13
pretty much everything, you know, not just the books but also DVDs and magazines and all that sort of thing as well. Yeah, and the way the books are displayed, you’ve got a great marketplace there, as well as the maker spaces which are really great for 3D stuff as well and I think we see them being really popular during school holidays. We know we get hundreds of thousands of families right across the grid that come to our libraries then as well.

      04:38
Yeah and quite a lot of people actually took part in the last annual survey didn’t they? Yeah we had the 2000 people respond last time and the most common suggestion actually from 60% of the respondents was better access to library services outside standard hours so we’ve now have smart lockers that could be accessed 24-7 outside our district city libraries as well so you know we will change our programs and what we do based on the needs from the residents.

      05:07
That is great. Well the course current survey runs from the well until the 17th of June. So it takes about 10 minutes to complete and I can I guess they find that online do they? Yes they do. It’s got Ipswich libraries you’ll find them. Alright fantastic. Now I know last week you got a chance to meet up with the new cohort of 37 members of the Ipswich Youth Advisory Council. Yeah it was great and it’s great for our

      05:34
I guess all the councils get to meet them for the first time as well. It was great for them to engage with the elected representative. There’s 37 new members. It’s the 17th term of the East West Youth Advisory Council and it’s open to everyone aged between 13 to 18. So we took them around the chambers. We had a good discussion, a meet and greet. We have a really young population at Switch, so it’s really important that we make sure that we engage our youth to make sure that we have the services and the programs that they need. Yep.

      06:02
And of course last year I believe they collaborated with council on several significant topics including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Yeah so we did a fair bit of work on our roadmap on how we’ll plan for that. One of the members actually came into Brisbane with me when we had a big seminar with the Premier of Queensland. They also worked with us on our inclusion and connectedness plan as well as our draft if switch plan. Now you might think

      06:32
a planning scheme, why would you do that? But it was really great to work out that how we plan where we are going to put future sporting fields or shopping centres and things like that, that happens under our planning scheme. So it was really great to get feedback from IAC on our planning scheme. Yeah and speaking of the Games, congratulations to you, it’s the first time we’ve spoken since the big announcement that you’re on the Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee. Thank you, it’s a real honour, it happened on Friday and there are…

      07:02
two mayors on the Bocog, on that Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee, myself and the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. So it’s an honour to represent our region and making sure that we all get the benefits of a great game in the future. And way back in 2000 when you were just a mere spectator, did you ever think you’d actually be on the Games Organising Committee? No, no. I lived in Sydney for 14 years and I can remember

      07:31
my youngest one, Ryan, was a little baby going to the Sydney Olympics and it was huge. You get such a amount of civic pride. I mean, we have years and years of construction and infrastructure upgrades and road upgrades and train lines being built, but there’s a great amount of pride when you get the games here and there are tons of economic and social opportunities as well. So, yeah, it’s really great to be able to be part of that.

      07:58
Oh well we just have to put in the bid now for North Ipswich Reserve and Brighton Homes Arena. Yeah well the Brighton Homes Arena is already concerned in the host documents that’s been signed off by the International Olympic Committee, it’s been signed off by the Prime Minister, the Premier and the Lord Mayor. So in the documents there it’s actually called the Ipswich Stadium and they’ll have the modern pentathlon. And look over the coming years we’ll be looking at where other training venues and so on will be on for the athletes and competitors.

      08:28
It’s going to be exciting times and good luck with all of that. I know it’s probably increased your workload tenfold but you’ll be enjoying every moment of it. It’s a great opportunity. It’s a way of getting city pride as well. It’s a rule on it that Ipswich should be a player in this as well. Alright, well we wish you all the best for that and we look forward to seeing you on the Beast at the Ipswich show this weekend.

      08:55
and look out for the uh… you know whisper in my facebook page because we’re gonna video it. Oh and I’ve been told you shouldn’t eat something beforehand so I better be very careful. Yeah yeah just. It’s quite a full on ride. Take that advice very carefully alright. That’s right and I’ve also submitted one of my um crocheted blankets into the show as well so fingers crossed. Oh okay could be a big winner for you.

      09:20
Oh, I don’t know, there’s a lot of good crochet in Ipswich, so I’ll see how I go. Alright, well all the best for it and thank you once again for catching up with us again this week. We’ll look forward to doing it again next week. Thanks, and I’ll see you on the weekend. There we go, Ipswich Mayor Theresa Harding joining us to take a little look at what’s been happening in Council. We’ll take a break, come back with more in a moment.

Yeah. Great. Now we’ve had our second meeting with Adrian. Yes.

      00:52
And that went really well. We officially kicked off yesterday. Officially, officially. What were you kicking? What kind of bull? Well, no, no. Your shoes, kick off your shoes. Yeah. No, no, we started the meal planning on Sunday and we got into starting to have the meals yesterday. So that was all good. And yeah, it’s going swimmingly at the moment. Yeah, right. Look at all these.

      01:22
verbs that you’re using. I know. Kicking, swimmingly, soon you’ll be bringing bins in randomly, won’t you? But Spargy will just be taking them out for no reason. He can bring them back in again. He’ll say, where have you been? I’ll go, I went for a walk and he’ll go, what have you done with demo? Yeah, I know. This is unbelievable. Well, you, you guys have me at you, you planned your meals. I know. Well, and this is- Okay. Yeah. Tell me about that.

      01:47
Tell me about meal planning. This has been just another level. And to the point where I actually got just a little bit stressed about it because we’ve never even had to ever plan food before. We’re like, we’ve never, never, ever done that. And actually then going through the recipes and making sure we’ve got everything. I just initially found it a little bit stressful, but so far everything’s here.

      02:12
I did go and try and make one of your breakfast muffins, which are in the low carb meal ideas book that you give everyone. And they’re on page, which page? I think they’re page 13. Oh mate, you’re testing me, page eight. Page eight, yeah, sorry, Berry Pancakes are page 13. Yeah, yeah, I know, cause you go straight for them. They’re next on my hit list.

      02:39
And, um, so I’m committed on making this batch and there’s no muffin tray. So here’s me thinking, right. Gourmet scrambled eggs. Here we go. That’s my fun story. And you didn’t know the muffin man and you should have. The muffin man! So glad we worked that in. Now, wasn’t there something else you needed to bring logs to task with, Damo? Yes. I, well, my second meeting with Adrian, I said,

      03:06
Look, you know, I need to bring it laws to task because I did sit down and watch the video on Sunday. And I did. I watched the video the whole 43 minutes of it. And I sat there watching it. And then I went, she’s talking about Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Yeah, she’s talking about Krispy Kreme doughnuts to a large proportion man. I mean, enjoy that. Well, I would have if I had a Krispy Kreme doughnut McGob.

      03:36
You can, we can pretend, we can pretend, but you know what, you’re an adult. Well, yes. Krispy Kremes better than you have to have Krispy Kremes. They’re the poor cousin of Krispy Kremes. But look, the thing is, and as I said to Sparky, I said, it’s not something that we need to get stressed over either. Um, because Adrian summed it up.

      04:00
You know, while it’s well, a good to follow the plan. But if you can’t say the other word, he said, no, we can’t. But, you know, if you know, if you’re eating sensibly, you know, then you can still get through and and still accomplish, you know, lots of things on the plan. So if you if you miss something, then you just, you know, get something that’s similar and away you go. Yeah, and it’s all about using a framework.

      04:27
Right. But so the most important part of the program for you guys is getting enough food in that’s mainly protein. So getting those protein snacks in. And we talked a little bit before off air about, um, protein shakes or protein bars. Yep. Yeah. We’ve invested in protein bars at the moment. That’s what we’re working through. Yeah. And, and, you know, whatever it is that you’re getting, it’s, it’s making sure that they’re

      04:53
quite high in protein. I mean, we do look for certain things in bars and ultimately if you can get a bar that is less than 80 calories per serve and more than 14 grams of protein and less than three grams of carbs, it’s gonna be great. But even if it doesn’t meet all those specifications, it’s still gonna be better than a Krispy Kreme, don’t I? Thank you for bringing that up again, Liz. With the cream, but it’s about just doing the best that we can, right? Because…

      05:21
Yeah, all we’ve got to do is make small improvements. And if we stack all these improvements, guess what will happen? Something will change. Yes. Yeah. So, look, I’m feeling good. I’m not feeling hungry at all. Good. So that is is a good thing. I’m enjoying the food that I’m eating because it’s all just stuff you have in the pantry and and in the fridge. And as I said to Sparky, you know, we’ll take it one day at a time. If we fall off the wagon, we get back on the wagon and we keep on going.

      05:50
Yeah. And it’s, that’s all it takes, right? It’s just, you know, showing up for yourself every day and being really conscious. And I think for most people, when they start to embark on a journey of like a health kick or whatever, it does feel like a really big task. And it’s about just showing up for yourself every day, being aware of what it is that you’re doing and realizing that you have the capacity to make small changes. You can walk out and bring the bins in. You can have a protein bar. You can have a breakfast.

      06:19
Pancakes, scrambled, muffin. Concoction. Yeah, it’s still nice though. It was nice. Yes. But, but you know, the one thing that I, I didn’t realise that this was happening, but I actually look forward to my zoom meetings with Adrian. And I think that gives me accountability as well, because I know I’m going to meet with him and he doesn’t, you know, uh, uh, you know, he’s straight to the point.

      06:47
But he’s clear, but he’s also fair. And I think I look forward to that where I’m actually feeling accountable to him to make sure I do this program properly. Yeah, and that’s the great thing about it is it’s not just getting a meal plan off the internet and fending for yourself. Like it’s knowing that you’re going to show up to somebody, a real human, and it’s human contact. I mean, we can get AI, we can talk to AI, but AI isn’t human. And being able to know that you to show up for him.

      07:15
rain, hail or shine. Yes. And you, you had to talk through, even if you feel like you, you might have fallen off the wagon that week and that’s okay, but talking to somebody that understands can help you navigate those challenges. And this is what I love about what we offer because it’s, you know, it’s a little bit different to, I guess, what a lot of people are trying to do. And this is why it works. Yes. Yeah. Yes. So we’re looking, we’re excited too, which is fantastic. So, uh, of course, if people want to follow our journey or.

      07:44
maybe go on themselves, they can go onto loslife.com and you can find out all about the information about the program, information about LOS and the team and everything else there as well. Listen to podcasts and really get some of that personal coaching and training to help you succeed in your goals, no matter what they are, it could be weight loss, it could be more energy and it could be just living a healthier life.

      08:10
Absolutely. And you can find me on social media at laws and to NANCO. You spell it as just say it, start typing in laws, A N T O N and you’ll find me. It’s a big yellow background. Got lots of free information. Some of it’s a bit funny. I’m funny sometimes. Yeah. Some of it’s serious, but yeah, it’s just a great place to start just to get interested in getting healthy, like, like, you know, demo and spark you have. And I’m really proud of you guys for starting. I’m looking forward to next week. Oh, the guy to think about three months time laws. You’ll I’ll be chasing you around the car park.

      08:41
That’s right. Put the bin out. Put me in the bin. You’ll be chasing the bin. That loss is good. I appreciate it, Loz. We’ll chat to you next week. Thanks, Jens. There you go. Let me give you that website one more time. One more time. LozLife.com and you can also find Loz on social media platforms as well. But yeah, we’re feeling pretty good. We do. Yes. There you go. Where your wheelie bin, Damo? Yeah, good. Thank you. This is the Brecky Club. Back soon.
