Have you ever not made it to church on Sunday because you just didn't have it all together? The beatitudes describe those who are in pain, trouble, and on the outs. Those are the people who are particularly blessed. Is that what Jesus' congregation looks like? Isn't church a place where we can share our brokenness?

The parables of the Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin are very familiar to most of us. We often identify with the shepherd and the woman because we have lost things, too. But as a church, is Jesus trying to teach us that someone found is something to be celebrated, and shouldn't we be looking for the lost?
