The West Mesa Murders refer to the discovery of eleven women and a fetus buried in Albuquerque, New Mexico between 2001 and 2005. The victims were mostly young Hispanic women involved with drugs and sex work. While initially suspected to be the work of a serial killer, authorities also believe a sex trafficking ring operating in the Southwest may be connected. The case has remained unsolved despite extensive investigation, with numerous suspects considered and cleared over the years, including a local pimp, a pressman known to have violently attacked sex workers, and a convicted serial killer from Colorado. Although no one has been charged with the murders, the case continues to garner attention and the possibility of more victims remains open.
