Imagine a grove of aspen trees, as the summer season fades, and the cooler weather shifts from vibrant greens to the delicate golds and reds of fall- a fleeting time. And like aspens, showing their beautiful golden leaves one day, are gone the next. Today’s story begins with a similar illusion of the changes in seasons, where a seemingly perfect union between husband and bride promises a lifetime of golden moments. Yet, like autumn aspens, they suddenly are gone revealing the dark truth behind this marriage. In a chilling act of betrayal, a husband’s concealed darkness is brought to light in the most tragic of ways—with a bride at the bottom of a cliff....
This singular moment will explore how this shocking act of violence exposed the darkness lurking just beneath the surface and how a seemingly idyllic relationship can unravel in the most devastating way, uncovering things of the past... Welcome to Episode 46: My Bride: The Murder of Toni Henthorn.

This case centers around a young man who was a good student and an athlete. Known as a good-hearted individual, perhaps a bit quirky, he had never found himself in trouble. Yet, the act he would commit would send shockwaves through his community and the world, an act of unimaginable horror. This once promising student suddenly found himself at the center of a gruesome crime that left two people dead and another injured. The most chilling detail? He was discovered attempting to consume the face of one of his victims.
What could drive someone from such a promising path to the depths of such brutality? Was it the shadow of mental illness, lurking unseen until it erupted in violence? Could his history of drug use have played a role, warping his mind and actions? Or was there a darker, more sinister force at play—something beyond the realm of science and reason? Welcome to Episode 45- Dark Descent: The Case of Austin Harrouff.

Socrates once said, "From the deepest desires often come the deadliest hate." We see this play over again and again as cases show those darkest desires in humanity. We will discuss a case that unfolds these forbidden passions, where obsession and envy intertwine and take a path where justice can no longer be seen with clarity. A love triangle that ends in the murder of one woman and motivations of those involved raising numerous questions of who did it. We see how affairs satisfy the carnal pleasure with the lure of secrecy that breeds excitement... but all too well... it's the sinking of their teeth into you and your family with the deceitful promise to not draw blood. It will bite and hurt.

“Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you. They are leading you into futility. They speak a vision of their own imagination, not from the mouth of the Lord......I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’ How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds?” The passage from Jeremiah chapter 23 serves as backdrop to a modern tragedy. This is a story of two people whose self-love and delusions, culminated in an unspeakable horror. Their actions, fueled by a desire for power, control, and sex, led to the deaths of four innocent people, two of which were children. It also casts light on the dangers of passivity—the silent witnesses who, through their inaction, allowed this tragedy to unfold. This is Episode 43, Lori Vallow, Chad Daybell & the Cult of Complicity.

For a cult to form, it takes a balance; a symmetry of circumstances and encounters for cults to find their footing, drawing both followers and leaders into their circle. For the followers, it's like standing alone on the edge of a cliff, feeling the weight of loneliness until a welcoming hand reaches out, promising unity and acceptance. The allure lies in never facing solitude again, even if it means abandoning reason and logic...jumping into something mysterious.
As for the leaders, it's the pursuit of power, wealth, or maybe the deep impulse to destroy. Nihilism is the belief that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated. A true nihilist would believe in nothing, have no loyalists and no purpose other than perhaps, destruction... It was Friedrich Nietzsche who argued that nihilism and its corrosive effects would eventually destroy all moral, religious and metaphysical convictions and precipitate the greatest crisis in human history. Is that time now? We are going to review 5 types of the most well-known cults in human history. Decades and times apart, and at the end, we will discuss possibly one of the most frightening modern-day cults, one that has yet to reach true destruction... Welcome to Episode 41, The Inner Circle: Uncovering Cults.

*Trigger warning. Parts of this case will be extremely disturbing*
Researching cases of child homicide is extremely challenging. In the world of true crime podcasting, these cases can be difficult to listen to, and we understand that some listeners may prefer not to. However, we advocate for the most vulnerable victims - children who had no choice or voice. Their stories cry out to us. One such story is that of Harmony Montgomery. Despite a rough start in life, Harmony blossomed into a bright, loving, and curious child. Tragically, she was brutally murdered by a violent criminal and unstable sociopath - her father, Adam Montgomery. What is shocking is that our system, which was supposed to protect her, handed her over to a monster. This is Episode 40: The Murder of Harmony Montgomery.

OPEN. COLD. NO ANSWERS. There is something unsettling when you open a case file and the first thing our eyes go to is usually these two things: the date of the crime and the status. Seeing a case remain OPEN is one of the most difficult crimes to unfold. A story cannot always be told in a linear fashion from beginning to end but more in fragments. It leaves something to be wanted... We live in a world seeking instant gratification and opting for the cases that leave us satisfied...But the ache of a lost one still echoes for those who really remember... the unsolved. I want you to not listen idly by. I want our listeners to hear this story because there is a chance... that someone, somewhere holds the fragments to make this story... whole. Welcome to Episode 39: A Peculiar Case: The Murder of Cassandra Rundle.

Marriage is a sacred bond. It requires trust, mutual respect, teamwork and intimacy.... just to name a few. It’s never perfect and it can be hard at times. The story we are going to tell is about a couple who portrayed the image of the “perfect marriage”. They seemed to “have it all”. They were the “it” couple. However, behind closed doors they had a secret, one in which they didn’t want anyone to know. Despite this outward image of perfection, simmering seeds of resentment were growing. This led to one having an affair that would take a tragic and dark turn....and ultimately the murder of one spouse. Maybe you can say that this is a cautionary tale....one that unveils the contrast between what we see and the hidden chaos that unfolded in a seemingly perfect marriage. This is Episode 38: Unsacred Bond: The Murder of Robert Limon.
