Jesus criticizes laziness and Paul notes that if an individual is able to work and refuses to do so, others have no responsibility to give him food to eat. Our former life was one without hope and we look at several passages that tell us that. But when we are baptized, we look at passages that tell us what happens to us. These actions result in the Christian beginning a new life. We note passages that tell us what that means. We end this episode by beginning our discussion of Jesus as our Lord and Master. We note that the Bible doesn't specifically use the word gambling. Neither does it name all sins specifically. But the Bible clearly sets forth principles that we can use to determine whether or not an activity is right or wrong - righteous or sinful. Gambling is such an activity. We begin by looking at the principle of stewardship. We are to be good, faithful and wise stewards, Jesus says. God has said that everything in the world is His, including ourselves. We discuss these things. We also talk about what is referred to as the Golden Rule, the love we are to have for others and the fact that we are to do good to them. We note the application of this principle. We move on to the principle against stealing and how that applies to gambling. We look at what we call the principle of personal industry, the work ethic that is clearly taught in the Bible. The principle against exploiting others is clearly one to be considered when discussing gambling. We include that in this episode.
