In this episode Arnie and Fred continue their discussion of The Faith Of Enoch. We begin by again noting the importance of parent teaching their children about God and His instructions on how we are to live faithful and righteous lives. It is evident that Enoch's parents faithfully taught him about God and Enoch believed that teaching and in God.  Part of that instruction included that about God's promised Messiah which was God's eternal purpose.  God had promised both His Redeemer and Satan's defeat in Genesis 3:15. Adam and Eve were witnesses to what God had said and they were still alive as Enoch was growing up.  So Enoch had benefit of learning from them about them being created by God and everything God may have said to them.  So we talk about Enoch's belief in God, his trust in the promise, the hope of salvation and he confidentially rejoiced in that.  We note that Enoch believed in God's power to reward and punish and he preached on those subjects we are told by Jude.  We discuss the persistence of Enoch's faith noting that he walked with God for the entire 365 years of his life.  Finally, we are told that Enoch pleased God and God took him. Enoch did not die, God took him straight to be with Hm.

This is the first episode that  Arnie and Fred discuss what the Bible says about the faith of Enoch. We start out noting the first six verses of Hebrews 11. As is commonly known, this chapter of Hebrews contains references to a number of faithful people from the old testament and notes their faithfulness to God.  Enoch is one of those people who believed in God.  He lived before the flood and knew Adam and Eve and we discuss why this is an important fact. We talk about the natural evidence of God that is available for all to see. In believing God, we talk about the importance of parents teaching their children about God from an early age. We close out the discussion noting that Enoch believed in God's promised Messiah.  We will start the next episode at this point.  Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion. In this episode, Arnie and Fred continue to discuss Jesus' apostles and their work. Jesus instructed them in what is commonly called the Limited Commission. The apostles accompanied  and assisted Jesus in His work such as the feeding of the 5,000. We note that they witnessed and proclaimed His death and resurrection. We talk about the fact that they were referred to as servants and had left nearly everything for the Gospel. We find them referred to as "earthen vessels" and discuss what that means. They were ambassadors for Christ and we note what that meant. They were also judges  and we talk about what that means to us today. They are said to hold the keys of the kingdom and we relate what the bible says about that. They also declared and taught the gospel through the spoken and written word and confirmed it with miraculous signs and we discuss some of that. Finally we talk about to what degree they considered themselves  indebted to Jesus Christ and God. In this episode Arnie and Fred discuss Jesus' apostles and their work.  We note that the original 12 apostles were known by other names, sometimes referred to as surnames. We talk about each name as found in the bible.  There were three pairs of brothers in this group.  We also note that many of them were evidently engaged in a family business of fishing. There is one puzzle relating to one of the apostles that we talk about.  There were also two more apostles appointed and we note that here were qualifications in order to do so.  Finally we note the definition of the word "apostle" and what the word implies. John provides seven signs or miracles  in his gospel account  that Jesus performed while He was on this earth among us. In this episode we discuss those seven signs and what they represent. Those seven signs are when He turned water into wine, the healing of the royal official's son, the lame man enabled to walk, feeding of the 5,000, walking on the sea, healing the blind man and raising Lazarus from the dead.  We note that these signs prove that He is the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God and the Author of eternal life. His enemies and skeptics  who rejected Him always demanded a sign after He first cleared the temple. He promised He would give it and He did! New Testament history records that they rejected that sign as well. These signs are provided to us as evidence that Jesus came to save us. Let's make sure we don't make the same mistake as those in the first century. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion of this important subject.

In this episode, Arnie and Fred continue their discussion of the persecution of Christians in the first century. We note that this persecution resulted from riots, false charges, brutal assaults and even murders on numerous occasions. We talk about the riot that occurred in Ephesus, as well as the murder of Antipas at Pergamos and the persecution of the members of the church at Smyrna.  There were false brethren who engaged in persecution and even relatives who persecuted their own family members.  Saints in the first century risked their lives to teach and preach the gospel and to protect other brethren at the risk of their own lives. Finally, we talk about Jesus' death on the cross which resulted from persecution by a criminal conspiracy at the highest levels of the Jewish government.  Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion.  Have your bible available to verify what we are saying.  Be aware that there is a transcript provided as well that you can follow along on.

In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss the persecution of the righteous that is recorded in the Bible even beginning in the Garden of Eden. it is Satan who is behind this evil activity. He seeks to entice and harm any who would want to serve God and persecution is one of the methods he uses to do that. We note that the Old Testament record is filled with the persecution of the righteous. We discuss Cain and Abel, Zacharias, Moses, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Mordecai and others. In the New Testament persecution of the righteous continued. John the Immerser was targeted as was Christians such as James, Peter and Paul. We close out the first part of this episode by a short mention of riots, false charges, brutal assaults and even murders that were used to persecute the first century brethren. This is the second episode that Arnie and Fred discuss John the Immerser, better known as John the Baptist. This time we start out by noticing his parents and the record of the angel visiting John's father. We talk about Mary's visit with John's mother Elisabeth, who was also her cousin, while she was expecting Jesus. We also note the baptism that John was sent to perform, its purpose and method, John's influence and the expiration of his baptism. Finally, we note the end of John's life. In this episode Arnie and Fred discuss John the Immerser, better known as John the Baptist in some Bible translations. We begin by noting when the Bible says his work began. We talk about his mission which included his preaching that was to prepare men to believe in Him who was "the Light". John preached about repentance and the fact that God's kingdom was soon to come. John spoke to both the religious elite and the politically powerful. We discuss what his specific demands of the people were and what he said about the coming Messiah. Finally, we note the fulfillment of his mission and the fact that he was not "The prophet" that the people were looking for. Wewill finish our discussion of John the Baptist in the next episode. In this episode, Arnie and Fred continue the discussion of what godly women did ni the church in the first century. We note that some women saints prophesied in New Testament times. We discuss what prophesy entailed and what the Bible says about when these prophetesses did this. We also discuss the fact that teaching by inspiration ended when the New Testament revelation was completed. We look at a number of passages that show that women participated in church business and that participation was confirmed by miracles.
