Welcome to today’s livestream where we talked about diabetes and tie this in with treating back pain and its impact on healing. We hope you find this video helpful and if you have any questions please do get in touch - we’d love to hear from you!
What Causes Diabetes? If your blood sugar levels are troubling you may be diagnosed as being pre-diabetic. Low fat diets can be very common, but are quite counter-intuitive as you’re cutting a food group that’s not affecting your diabetes. Sugar is very addictive and so it can be something that a lot of people struggle with. Your body and pancreas becomes worn out and doesn’t want to process sugary foods properly anymore.
Diabetic ulcers and poor wound healing can be caused by your body’s inability to perform angiogenesis, the development of new capillaries. The tissue is stuck in a state of chronic inflammation. A back problem can be no different, your body is going to struggle more to heal the problem.
Preventing & Reversing Pre-diabetes Diet is the biggest preventor. If you’re opting for low-fat yoghurt for example, the fat is often replaced by sugar so you need to be more aware of what you’re putting in your body. Carbohydrates are processed by your body into sugar, so foods like oats, rice etc. these are still sugars although they seem healthier. Your meals in the day might be more balanced, if you have a small portion of carbohydrate with those but if you have fruit or cereal for breakfast are not healthy choices. Write down what you’re having for meals so you can see where you’re going wrong.
Often patients can be told to go away and come back in 12 weeks for further testing without any advice as to how you can reduce the blood sugar levels.
Having eggs, avocado or smoked salmon alongside half a slice of bread is a great alternative for breakfast that will set you up correctly for the day. It’s more time consuming to prepare but is going to be much better for you in the long run. You can go without carbohydrate but we don’t believe you need to, just opt into low-carb high-fat to make the most difference.
