We are creatures of habit, and often deny change. While habits can be good, oftentimes they can become monotonous and lead to a “going through the motions” passive lifestyle.
Think about how you are showing up today. Are you feeling, aware, and living for the moment? Or are you mindlessly drudging through tasks that simply have to get done.
We all have routines, most often ones that work well and have been for months even years, but sometimes that can allow us to get stuck just think about getting through things rather than embracing them.
Rituals on the other hand, have meaning and a message behind them every time we perform them. Think about all the rituals you or your family have and why they are important. Then think about the routines in your life and why they have lost their importance.
