In this episode Andrea Coomer is sharing her birth story. Andrea planned an unmedicated birth and went into labor one evening after a long hospital work shift. after laboring for 12+ hours it was discovered that she had cervical scar tissue from a LEEP that wouldn't allow her cervix to dilate, so she opted for an epidural to rest. Andrea shares how her birth didn't go as planned when she ended up having a failed vacuum attempt that resulted in a cesarean birth.

Casey had a belly birth with her first baby due to her daughter being breech, her provider was extremely supportive of a VBAC and encouraged it before she even knew it was an option. For her second birth Casey fixated on a VBAC, educated herself, had the support of a doula (hello that's us!!), and ultimately had the birth she hoped for!

In this episode Alyssa is coming on to share about her birth story. Alyssa's labor stalled out - causing her to consent to pitocin to help bring her contracts closer together. She then opted for an epidural which actually failed twice and needed to be replaced. After pushing for over 2 hours with little to no progress she decided in a cesarean birth. Although she says there is a lot she would have changed, in the end everything played out perfectly to get her daughter here safety. It turned out she had a nuchal cord (umbilical cord around her neck) that was getting tighter every time she pushed. Her nurse said that in all her 30+ years she has never seen a baby life through a cord that tight.
