69: Today we’re chatting with Erica Gatlin, an OG in the digital marketing space and my Talent Manager at TC Management Co. Erica has been working in influencer marketing since 2009, before “influencer” was even a term. From managing campaigns for Fortune 500 companies to starting her own influencer division within a Boston ad agency, to managing Talent, to heading up Brand Partnerships at a start-up, she’s seen it all in this industry.
If you’re a content creator, you’ve probably wondered at least once or twice lately, what’s going on with brands right now?? There’s a palpable shift that we’re all noticing and Erica and I chat about what we’re seeing and how to navigate this shift. We get into:
Secret things brands don’t want you to know
Trends that she sees happening in the influencer marketing industry that are cyclical
Some of the surprising things we’re noticing in the industry right now, including new clauses and language to watch out for in your contracts
Our hypotheses of why we’re seeing the shifts that are currently happening

64: I'm doing a solo episode today and chatting about an Upper Limit I've recently hit. The Upper Limit Problem was coined by psychologist Gay Hendricks, and it's the idea that subconscious self-sabotage happens when we get a taste of something great (like a promotion, financial success, being in a great relationship, a big launch, or any other measure of success). In this episode, I'm chatting about:
- How hitting 300,000 monthly pageviews on my site has triggered my Upper Limit and the negative thoughts I've been having from it
- The specific steps I'm taking to push the boundaries of this particular Upper Limit
- Journaling prompts that are helping me work through this
- How I'm reprogramming my mind to attract more success and what I want more of

63: Today we have a fire conversation for you with burnout management coach Emily Ballesteros! We did a deep dive on how to actually manage and prevent burnout. She shares some amazing insights and strategies (beyond like, take a bubble bath). Listening to her share tips and advice gave me so many reflections and a-ha moments, and I know they will for you too. In this conversation, we get into:
- Why the 40-hour work week is completely outdated and sets us up to fail
- The five areas of burnout management
- How Emily recommends pacing yourself during your work and setting boundaries
- Quiet quitting—what is it, why is it trending, and does Emily encourage it?
- How to approach personal care as a pyramid to ensure your non-negotiables are met
- The concept of a "third place" (where people go to socialize outside of work and home), how that's disappearing, and the impact that has on our mental health

62: I'm doing a solo episode today and sharing 10 tips, hacks, and mental shifts I've made when it comes to how I manage email and my relationship with my inbox. I have FINALLY gotten to a good place with how I manage my inbox and the amount of time I spend on emails, and these hacks have helped me tremendously. They're strategies and shifts I've tried over the years that have all led me to being able to release the weight of emails and its pings and dings, while still effectively using it for my business (because let's be honest, I'm never going to be like Christopher Nolan who reportedly doesn't use email. Like, at all.). In this episode, I get into:
- Two mindset shifts I've made when it comes to inbox management and email response time that completely changed how I manage my time
- The email tool that I'm absolutely obsessed with that empowers me to screen people in or out of my inbox with one click, forever
- My favorite hacks that save me time like filters, specific settings, separate inboxes, and shortcuts
- Why you need to turn your email notifications off on your phone, now

61: We're chatting with Erika Altes from @whiskeyandlace about her brand's origin story—and the difficulties of losing a close friend in the process. I think we can all relate to going through a friendship breakup, but it's not something that's openly talked about and feels a bit taboo. Erika gets super open and vulnerable with us and shares:
- Whiskey and Lace's brand story, how her business partner and friendship breakup happened, and how she was eventually able to grow from it
- How she turned the brand from something that wasn't profitable into Whiskey and Lace 2.0, and a thriving business
- How Erika finally got closure on the loss of her friendship 8 years later (and all the coincidences that led to it—this part of the convo gave me literal chills!)
- How Erika has used her influence for good by supporting local businesses and raising $50k to feed firefighters during the Glass Fire
- What sets her apart from other influencers in the space
