  • Episode 262: King Doctor Rebel Princess

This week on WTFolkore, we read The Rebel Princess, a Ukrainian tale. What begins as your average Boy Meets Girl, Boy and Girl pour over ancient manuscripts, Girl becomes feral tree person story rapidly escalates to a high seas adventure for a bookclub of drunk lady pirates. It's pretty rad.

  • Episode 261: A Face That Could Bring Pepper to Life

This week on WTFolkore, we read Salt, Sauce, and Spice, Onion Leaves, Pepper, and Drippings, a Hausa tale from Northern Nigeria. We spend a considerable amount of the episode reflecting on soup and it's metaphorical capabilities, going so far as to radically change the one presented in a story. Ironically, we forgot a core component of any soup: Evil Spirits.

Suggested talking points: Download Integrity, Drinkable Whimsy, Condolences to Drippings Spice, the Scoville Level of Abs, What if the World was Soup?, Spice as a Metaphor for War

As mentioned at the end of the episode, we'll be donating our June patreon contributions (and making personal donations as well) evenly between Color of Change and The National Center for Transgender Equality. Tyler continues his Focus to explain the plot of every Final Fantasy to his captive co-hosts this week, lest a vengeful Pulse Fal'Cie come along and make a motorcycle jetplane dragon lady burst out of his tattoo to turn him a Cieth. Tuesdays, amirite?

  • Episode 259: Mid-Lion Crisis

This week on WTFolklore, we're covering Achol and Her Wild Mother, a Sudanese tale that we think is an absolutely perfect fit for the brand new and not at all desperate new streaming platform, Quibi!

Suggested talking points: Gendertoad, Scrambled Dog Eggs (with Ketchup), Internally-screamed Magic Spells, Myth-times Walmart, Crimebelina

  • Episode 257: Permanently Embarrassed Millionaires
