In the same way that you should address car issues by stopping and diagnosing problems sooner rather than later, we should honestly assess whether any injury (big or small) might have the potential to lead to something worse.

Just as you would be hesitant to drive a car that's not balanced or aligned, we should be hesitant to keep running if we have sustained an injury. It might not necessarily mean that we don't run altogether, but it might mean an adjustment and/or scaling down.

We might not think of injury prevention much in the short term scheme of things, but it is very important if we want to keep running in the long term! Keep good care of your body, always be looking out, and take it easy if needed!

The most helpful resource that I use to find races is Running In The USA! In my experience, they have the most functional and cleanest race search engine that I know of.

In this episode, I mention the concept of how to stretch before running. To which, I would say that the more helpful concept might be "warming up" rather than "stretching".

That being said, there are a LOT of dynamic warmup movements that runners can do before they run. Below are a few links to give you some ideas on dynamic movements you can do before running. Different stretches have different levels of effectiveness for different runners, so feel free to experiment and build your personalized and most ideal pre-run warmup routine!

There are MANY more dynamic warmup movements beyond what is shown in the above videos, so feel free to search for something like "dynamic stretching for runners".

Remember, the purpose of your pre-run warmup routine is to prevent injury and to get you loose enough to have a meaningful run/workout! Happy running, my friends!

In simplest terms, a 5K refers to a 5-kilometer (or 5 km) race. And, 5 kilometers is roughly equal to 3.1 miles.
