The release of our latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll generated extra attention. Poll watchers, including President Donald Trump, took note of an increase in the proportion of Latino Americans who say they approve of Trump’s job performance. In this week’s episode of Poll Hub, we provide context to that finding, explain what it means and what it does not mean, and share some of the challenges of polling the U.S. Latino community. Then, citizenship and the U.S. Census. The Trump Administration’s decision to resurrect and include a question about citizenship in the 2020 U.S. Census has drawn ire and lawsuits. Recently, a federal judge in New York ruled against the addition of the question. But, that is far from the end of this debate. Where does the census go from here? What is at stake?
