Trending today: a very nerdy new video game called Federal Reserve Simulator, where you can play as a Fed chair trying to save the economy. Michael Koh fills in for Victor, but Victor’s along for the ride along with Henry Taylor.

Trending today: a bill in the Florida legislature to make the flamingo the official state bird – with one dissenting voice in Pensacola. Michael Koh (filling in for Victor) is surprised the flamingo isn’t already the Florida state bird, but Aaron actually associates Florida with chickens more than flamingos. (There’s a good reason.) Also, Aaron digs into the shady origin of those weird names we give to different groups of animals.

Trending today: Aaron spars with Michael Koh (filling in for Victor) on which songs the U.S. should use for the 2028 Olympic ceremonies. Aaron thinks they need to be California-specific for the Los Angeles setting, while Michael thinks they ought to be songs that everyone universally loves worldwide. (But will anyone from outside the U.S. even bother coming?)

Trending today: a high-level copyright lawsuit pitting Squishmallows against Build-A-Bear over their similar product, Skoosherz. (All of which makes Aaron laugh – not so much because of any specific details of the suit itself, but can you imagine being the proud parents of the incredibly successful attorneys who are going all in and devoting their time and energy and careers to the Squishmallows-versus-Skoosherz case?)

Trending today: American fast-food eaters are switching from bone-in chicken to boneless chicken – no surprise to Aaron, who never liked the bones in the first place. (Yeah, it tastes better, but think of the inconvenience!) Also, Victor inches closer to bringing all the Trends together into one simple, beautiful, fully explanatory equation.

The post What’s Trending: The Grand Unified Theory of Trends appeared first on Chapelboro.com.

Trending today: Victor revisits an earlier topic, about the decline of mass-market paperbacks as readers shift to e-books. (Though Victor hates the word “e-book.” And “e-mail,” for that matter.) Also, Aaron compares e-book reads with binging a TV show in the background, and Victor learns (to his chagrin) that RDU airport used to have a used bookstore once upon a time.
