What's Your Mount Rushmore?

Quarterbacks are the leaders and field generals for any football team. They are often the glue that holds a winning team together, but also take most of the blame for losing teams.

As lifelong NFL fans we had decades of quarterbacks to consider. A couple of our picks came very easy to each of us but we had to do some thinking to land on the others. Between us we actually came up with a list that includes QBs that dominated the league from the 1970s to present day! These guys are truly the best to ever step onto the field.

The Minnesota State Fair attracts more than 2 million visitors each year and is the largest state fair in the country by daily attendance. We both have a unique perspective of the State Fair due to our work histories. It's safe to say we have been to the fair a lot more than the average Minnesotan.

One of the main draws of the fair each year is the food and many of our own personal memories of the fair are tied to something we ate there... often on a stick.

Use this episode as a guide to prepare for your next Minnesota State Fair visit! With only one exception, all the foods we mention are still sold at the fair each year.

Will Ferrell got his big break as a cast member of Saturday Night Live in the 1990's. Since then he has gone on to not only star in, but occasionally write and produce some of the funniest movies of the last 25 years.

We've always been big fans of his work, both at SNL and on the big screen. Sometimes narrowing our choices down to four picks to put on the Mount Rushmore for each episode can be really tough, but in this case it was a lot of fun. Because we got to relive some hilarious movies and include some funny clips from each of our picks. We're pretty sure you'll enjoy the ride too. Stay classy!

Some of the best songs in history tell a story. They could be as simple as a boy meets girl kind of story, or something deeper and more meaningful. A lot of songs are written to re-tell stories of events that actually happened in real life.

This episode proved to be a very difficult one for us! There are so many outstanding story songs that we had a tough time narrowing down to only 4 songs. In fact, we both came up with 8 - 10 songs we wanted to include on our lists. We may have to revisit this topic at some point down the road and do a Mount Rushmore of Songs That Tell a Story version 2.0. Stay tuned....

Mount Rushmore of Food Pairings 🍳🥓

Some foods are perfectly fine on their own, but other foods just BEG to be eaten together. In fact some of the foods on our lists really only go well with each other and you'd never even consider eating them on their own.

Cereal and Milk. Butter and Bread. Peanut Butter & Jelly. All fine examples of foods that are traditionally eaten together. Did any of them make our lists? You'll have to listen to find out!

Mount Rushmore of Summer Olympians 🥇

The 2024 Summer Olympics are here! We have always been fans of the Olympics, both Summer and Winter. As we discuss in this episode, many of the Olympic sports we only see (or even care about) once every four years, but the athletes competing still leave a strong impression on us.

Imagine working hard training every day for four years, only to have one tenth of a second being the difference between winning a medal and going home empty handed. This kind of sports drama only happens during the Olympics!

Mount Rushmore of HBO Series 📺

Some of the best TV series in the history of television have their roots on the HBO network, now part of the MAX streaming package. We have been watching HBO shows for a long time, but can you believe the network itself is more than 50 years old?

In hindsight we could have done an episode of just HBO comedies and another with HBO drama / action shows. But it's too late for that, we lumped them all into one episode and it was tough for us to narrow down to just four. We both have a mix of comedies and dramas, and we hope you enjoy our picks!

We spun the wheel of names and landed on.... Gary. So we're listing out our top 4 favorite People Named Gary in this week's episode!

Have you noticed the name Gary is becoming a name of the past? As we discuss in this episode, you don't see many young kids or babies named Gary. In fact, less than 250 babies named Gary were born in the United States for entire year of 2023. So lets honor them, and all the rest of the great Garys of the world!

In honor of Independence Day this week, we wanted to do a special episode listing our favorite American Things. We approached this episode with the goal of choosing things that are American icons and were created in the USA, perfected in the USA or just make you think of this great country.

Before anyone gets too upset, we purposely left off things like the 4th of July, American Flag, the Constitution or the Star Spangled Banner because we wanted to go a little deeper with our picks, and avoid too much overlap between us. There will be an obvious item or two on our lists, but also some that may surprise you.

We grew up with the original three Star Wars movies, the action figures and all the toys. At least one of us even had a Star Wars themed Halloween costume as a kid. We also enjoyed the prequels, the final trilogy and the various TV series that have taken us deeper into the Star Wars universe.

All this means there are literally hundreds of characters to choose from. Humans, droids, aliens.... we have characters from ALL of those life forms in our picks!
