We are considered near shore because of our distance to the United States the agents that we have here are bilingual spanish and english which in the United States spanish could be the most spoken language in the next 10 years and also in regards to our cost savings you can get a turnkey agent here for salary benefits, hr telecom and overhead for the same price you would be paying an hourly agent in the United States.

It's Different When Telesales Agents Really Enjoy The Job

Most of the agents in the States believe that call center and telemarketing jobs are transitional or they look down on it. I don't know why because many people earn a living making and receiving calls.

In Costa Rica they find a second language stimulating and so they're constantly looking to increase their english skills and thus their marketability.

So by making these calls in the United States they really find it fascinating and so what we try to do is to cultivate and grow their second language skills by expanding their vocabulary by explaining certain genres that we have.

Incorporating Soft Sales Skills

We are also serious about incorporating certain soft skills that some people claim that we've lost today because most people are chatting or sending emails.

I prefer to speak with somebody. I think there's a much better chance to retain that client to get a referral, possibly an upsell and even worst case scenario if someone is not doing business with you. Maybe through an exit interview they can tell you ways in which you could improve or what your competition did in order to earn their business.

Positive Escalation

The best thing about making an outbound call to a business is a positive escalation let's just say hypothetically I'm trying to get in touch with you but there's an individual that will be answering and filtering this call prior to transfer what I like to do is to find out the plethora of information about your company we could find about anniversaries or promotions or the company culture but this is the thing this individual that assisted me prior to transferring to you I will a let them know that they were amazing and I'm going to talk about them so when I do get transferred I'm going to let you know that you have the most amazing people at your organization.

I'll do it verbally but then at the end of the call I will write you something as a follow-up and mention this individual as well in writing so the Richard circle comes where if I call your company back first they're going to know me they're going to thank me so much for talking about them to the boss and adding to my momentum they cannot wait to transfer the call to you and you're going to see the relationship I have with your company prior to any sort of contracts so I think you might take our good faith and our intentions much more into consideration compared to somebody just trying to angle their way in there for a sale with you.

Hosting Conferences For Profit

We created a part of our business that was about teaching our customers. We would build websites and teach customers how to update them. We would create social media campaigns and teach customers how to take them over. That teaching piece was always part of what we did. We started to package some of these resources. I used to do live training and I started doing a little bit of online training.

We thought, let's do a conference! Everyone told me that you don't make money the first year that you have a conference. I didn't really like the sound of that, after all I'm in business. I really wanted to make it a profitable exercise instead of just a marketing exercise.

We ran a really fun half day event of 100 people called the digital toolbox.

That was the whole premise was we were giving people the tools they needed and the idea was to do that every every.

Moving To Online Web Conferences

The first one was actually an in-person event but then we put all the resources on the

digitaltoolbox.club website and invited people to join.We were planning on doing another in-person event but corona had different ideas.

So in 2020 there was no conference but we had this website and so we started really promoting the digital toolbox as a standalone resource. We built out a facebook group and we started to really build that out.

People Prefer To Learn in Chunks Over Time

If you really want to learn something, you need to do it a little bit at a time. You need to practice what you learn and build on what you've learned. Sso today we are transitioning the webinars into longer self-paced classes. My 45-minute, "Why You're Doing SEO Wrong" webinar is now an eight part program of little five minute videos, little assignments and worksheets that allow you to actually put into practice and use what you're learning.

I think that the biggest thing is getting clear on your audience because depending on who that audience is they are going to have different questions that they need answers for online.

They're going to have different things that they care about, things that they're researching and if you're trying to meet everyone you're going to have a really hard time writing or creating content that reaches that one person you actually want to.

Know Your Audience

I always think that is your biggest starting place. I'm so curious about brands, I want to know everything about their audience, what they care about, what else they've tried and what hasn't worked.

That can really help inform and facilitate better content that actually serves them and answers their questions.

Don't Try To Write For Everyone

I think there's that temptation whether you are a big corporation or more of an individual coach or brand, where you worry about missing out on traffic, by not covering a broad range of topics.

When you really get specific with your content, it provides a better experience for readers.

Why Are You Even Bothering To Write Content?

I think the first thing to do is to really start with, what's your big goal here? What is the number one driver for your business this next quarter?

That's going to inform the kind of content you create.

Once You Know WHY, You Need To Map Your Content Strategy

We'd kind of map it all out. We might say, " let's spend the next week or two and build this asset"

We are going to plan out our blog posts in advance and drip them out once a week.

Included in that is the specific keywords we are going to target for search engine results.

Don't Forget To Promote Your Content

Everyone thinks you want to spend 80 percent of your time creating and 20 promoting but it's really the opposite. If you're spending a lot of time on a blog post you want to be repurposing that and getting that out there so your audience can actually see it. So want to plan out how you are going to drive traffic from social media as well.

I went to school for accounting, did a master's degree and got my CPA license which is a certified public accountant.

I went through that whole process of about five years and then I started my career in 2017 and pretty much right away hated it.

I did not enjoy the work I was doing. I didn't find it fulfilling.

I knew that even if I switched to a different field within accounting I wasn't going to enjoy the work and there was just something in me that was like there has to be more to life than going to a nine to five and sitting at a desk and punching numbers into a computer all day not.

So it was only about a year into my job when I started thinking that I needed to make a change. At the time I was really passionate about fitness. I had been on my own fitness journey for a few years.

I really enjoy being a personal trainer and being a fitness coach and helping people reach their goals in that way. That sounds really fulfilling to me and I also was seeing all of these coaches online that were coaching their clients from anywhere in the world. They had the freedom to set their own schedule to work when they wanted to and I wanted that.

I wanted that freedom and that fulfillment and so I enrolled in a course to get my personal training certification. I ended up quitting my job in december of 2018 which was a year and a half after I started and then I launched my online coaching business which started as fitness coaching. So now it's obviously evolved into doing business coaching, social media management and I have my own podcast as well.
